The Trump administration has removed or reassigned several top career officials in the Justice Department’s national security and criminal divisions, according to multiple people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters.
Two of the people said that at least 15 experienced career staffers across several divisions were removed from their positions and reassigned, a sign that the new president and his aides plan to carry out their promises to dramatically reshape the agency, including to focus more on immigration enforcement.
As a way to skirt legal protections afforded to career staffers, many of the officials were transferred to other positions inside Justice, where they would likely have less influence on the department’s big decisions, the people said. The officials will have to decide whether to stay in their new assignment or leave the agency.
The Justice Department declined to comment.
Trump and his allies have long signaled they would make significant changes in the Justice Department’s national security division, which investigates and prosecutes cases related to terrorism, intelligence and other matters of national security.
Trump and his allies are particularly angry at this section for its role in investigating his alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left the presidency in 2021.
Among the people being removed from that division is deputy assistant attorney general George Toscas, who has served in the national security division for about two decades, according to three people familiar with the matter. Two people familiar with the matter said he was transferred to a newly created Office of Sanctuary Cities Enforcement in the associate attorney general’s office.
Toscas was a top counterintelligence attorney who played a key role in deciding to search Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence to retrieve the documents. He served as a deputy...

I think by now Trump people know who are all the Russian collusion hoaxers and Hunter laptop hoaxers are in the DOJ. The appointees will all be gone, but it is a bit more difficult to get rid of the civil service ones, so they have to create a staging department to ultimately boot them out or transfer them to even more useless departments...
Too easy
I also recommend Attu & Shemya in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands
This is the way. Move them out of the chain of command, the decision making process, and move them to Alaska if they have to be kept on.
Moosejaw, Alaska
Or in the basement
The problem with the Aleutian Islands is they are in Alaska and the people transferred there could vote. I have been doing some research on this and Jarvis island looks like a good spot. It is a US posession located between Hawaii and the cook islands, about a thousand from miles from each. Currently unihabited and almost devoid of vegatation, it receives very little rainfall. Best part is it is some sort of wildlife sanctuary and probably needs many people to record the mating habits of the local wildlife.
Reassign them to Antarctica.
I was figuring that the senior DOJ and similar personnel re-assigned to duties on Adak, Attu, or Shemya would be involved with snow shoveling, grass cutting, rock painting, & etc. They would have no subordinates to boss around other than themselves and probably have minimal communications with the outside world. Thus letting them vote in Alaska elections seems to be a minor point. Of course, if they refuse the job reassignment, then they can resign from government employment.
GIVE THEM PUSH MOWERS LIKE WE GREW UP WITH.
In the old days they were tranferred to Butte, Montana.
No.
The Acting Attorney General is James McHenry.
Good riddance.
Assign them to Nome, AK.
We also need the Department of War back.
Anyone who complains about the J6 pardons needs to be fired, removed, tried and executed.
I see the WaPo is living up to its new motto, “Storytelling”.
“Open an office in Adak, Alaska and assign them there.”
That’s what the Chief used to threaten me with.
I’m sure Nome would be adequate.
Put these people in charge of counting paperclips, and if they miscount, fire them.
