We were able to meet with senior staff. So we met with very senior people in the White House, in the inner core.
We will directly regulate and control those companies. There will be no start-ups. This whole thing where you guys think you can just start companies and write code and release code on the internet — those days are over. That’s not happening.”
This is why I took you through the long preamble earlier, because at this point, we are no longer dealing with rational people. We’re no longer dealing with people we can deal with.
And that’s the day we walked out and stood in the parking lot of the West Wing and took one look at each other, and we’re like, “Yep, we’re for Trump.”

Comment - Much much more. He doesn't name names in the grey ranks of policymakers he ran into, which is disappointing. Who makes these decisions? What's going on? Andreesen should testify on a dozen matters.
Really appreciate your Bio : thank you.
Thanks!
Excellent read.
Thank you, buwaya, for sharing it.
From Douthats transcript. Clumsy but understandable. Whattyagonna do?
Deal with it!
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this whole exchange. I'm still processing it but it cements for me that somehow the sheer radicalization bubbling forth from the elite universities and college campuses must be destroyed. The breathtaking antisemitism spewing forth from Harvard, Columbia, and other radical student conveyer belts must be destroyed. As noted, still processing this exchange.
One other thing, it clearly shows that the roots of government radicalization began in earnest during the Obama years and once Trump got in the radicals, led by Obama, Hillary, et. al., just, literally, went into crazy, evil overdrive, throwing any and all social caution to the wind to stop Trump. During the Biden term they literally almost overthrew the country.
Wow, I put in a good 30 minutes reading the entire long piece. This dialog is one for the history books. It explains how the Tech companies fell in love with the Dems and there’s been a big change of heart — and now the leaders are Donald Trump supporters.
To me, if you are curious about tech companies, Andreeson really opens up the kimono and explains a lot of history.
.
“This dialog is one for the history books.”
Isn’t it? It explains an awful lot. Some of this matches our experiences with the industry (mine anyway), but here its coming from a genuine authority.
informative
” the sheer radicalization bubbling forth from the elite universities and college campuses must be destroyed.”
People have been saying this for over 40 years (”The Closing of the American Mind”, 1987, Alan Bloom, for one). Not much has been done.
Well I for one am shocked. It appears that being arrogant and snotty to people offends them. So I say to Democrats, just keep on behaving like this. Please.
Understood, but my fear is the Trump era merely suppresses the radicalization factories that are the elite universities. That is, they sort of go underground for a while only to re-emerge at a later date more evil than before, if that’s possible. Not sure the approach, just pondering the root problem. Why are these kids so easily coopted by evil and how can we reach them with truth and light?
People are inherently stupid.
They belive what they are told.
They are told a lot at university.
A fantastic, hopeful piece.
I read this the other day and was going to post it if someone else didn’t, it is an incredibly encouraging piece about why much of Silicon Valley became terrified of the left and their fresh out of college employees and is now on the right.
These guys describe an employee situation of indoctrinated leftists that is far worse than we knew and David Horowitz has been helping them to understand it and guiding them to the right.
I heard exactly the same thing from Marc Andreesen on a TuckerCarlson or Rogan interview in November. I was shocked.
The government telling g tech to stop. No new innovation would be permitted.
I cannon find where I listen heard it.
Maybe Rogan? I remember something like that too.
But this one is more complete.
Also interesting it was in the NYT.
