Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul joined TikTok on Saturday to protest the app's impending ban.
Paul proceeded to post a singular video to his account, explaining why he had joined the app just as it is about to go offline.
"Why am I joining TikTok just as the government ban begins?" Paul said in the video. "Because I don't like being told what to do. I don't like being told what I can think or what I can say. The courts may think there's an exemption to the First Amendment. I don't. I joined TikTok today as a form of civil disobedience. To the 170 million Americans who use TikTok: Don't give up, don't give in. Resist."

His account on the platform, @randpaul, had over 93,300 followers as of Saturday at 4:30 p.m. His account was also already seen to be verified in the short time that he had been on it, a designation that TikTok gives to the accounts of famous and notable people to avoid being confused with impostor accounts.

China,China, China.Yawn.
Good on ya Senator Paul.
And our government steals all your info with our social media, search engines, email, text, etc.
Another case of, “if we do it it’s ok, if someone else does it, it’s bad.”
And we don’t do that?
“The means to protect the Nation from foriegn danger can be used for tyrant at home.” James Madison.
I have never used TikTok; I like to watch video that has been taken in landscape rather than portrait mode. I haven’t heard that TikTok users are any more likely to be victims of having their identities stollen than other people. It seems to be a platform that mostly young people have any interest in. Does the Chinese government give a rat’s butt about spying on your typical TikTok user or stealing information about them. It does not seem that likely.
President Trump has hinted that he is going to “save” the app... If that happens that will be good enough for me to have basically no concerns.
I don’t use Tik-Tok.
No. But you use FR. That's the problem with the bill. It's not "TikTok specific" bill.
Any website or app that is associated with a foreign adversary can be banned.
The Feds have the powers to do that now.
Oh, pull yer f@#$in head out, yah arsehole. It is an ownership issue, nothing to do with free speech.
And, if being a libertarian meant anything, how come yer party nominated a piece of commie trash for Pres?
Pi$$ off.
That's what they want you to believe.
