Jeff Nguyen dives into the claims that many of the LAFD's trucks were not fit for service.
From the story:
"89 out of 584 apparatus were out of service."
15% of the trucks out of service. Of course, no water at the hydrants had they even been able to show up.
Those are the ones out of service completely. What shape is the rest of the fleet in?
But that DEI training...
They drained the reservoir and told the fire department to stop testing the fire hydrants months ago.
Sounds like a plan.
Let me guess - they were in need of maintenance at the understaffed LGBTQWERTY facility because how many qualified lesbian fire truck mechanics are there?
Oh, and the “maintenance” they were waiting on was probably being repainted rainbow colors.

The pumpers and rescue trucks are replacements for LAFD apparatus purchased just after the 2002 Cerro Grande Fire. The pumpers and rescues are owned by the Department of Energy and provided to LAFD through a cooperative agreement.

Some need a few minutes of work to get cranked up to start.
Well, if there’s no water in the hydrants do you really need fire trucks? That’s the California logic here.
You say that in jest but...
I actually heard someone say it didn’t matter about the Palisades reservoir being empty because it made no difference. “100 mph winds...”
Climate change was the problem; not their incompetence.
NYT said that. Weather Channel. BBC. Go google if you don’t believe me....
...and all those inspections delaying incoming trucks!
How many of the LAFD’s fire(not)men were not fit for service?
I totally believe you. People in California are nuts.
In Florida our Governor is the opposite of Gavin. DeSantis staged first responders and their equipment in critical places to assist BEFORE the storm even came ashore. And he had bridge builders ready to do replacements and repairs lined up as needed. After one storm some years ago DeSantis had an island bridge downed by a hurricane and had it up and carrying cars in less that 3 weeks - a bridge they said would takes months to rebuild.
Here's how we feel in Florida: safe. And happy..
Adam Carolla had a nice rant today about the DEI director chick. About 8 minutes in here:

I’d say too many.
Meanwhile fleets of loaner firetrucks from neighboring states are quarantined until the mandatory emissions tests are performed and passed.
Send them home. Keep their families safe. Ingrates.
No water in the reservoir? Use water from the Pacific Ocean. That salt water will temporarily kill off the vegetation but that is a minimal sacrifice to keep a home from being burned. They should have the procedure, getting the sea water into the fire hydrant system, ready to go if they are properly prepared. Morons if they don’t.
Using ocean water to fight fires.
Wonder how that will work on all those EV automobiles.
“it didn’t matter about the Palisades reservoir being empty”
According to Newscum all the reservoirs were all full—believing your own eyes is obviously right wing extremist disinformation.
:-)
That’s not to shabby.. 89 out of 584 not working. ~15% out of commission.
By comparison the militaries $100m per aircraft F-35 has a 55% mission capable availability.
