A rally has been planned for noon Monday at Allentown City Hall following the discovery of an item resembling a noose draped over the desk of a Black employee there.
It was found around 7:30 a.m. Friday inside the Community and Economic Development Office, according to the police department.
Community leaders will be presenting a list of demands to the city of Allentown at the rally at City Hall, 435 W. Hamilton St., a press release said.
The group says that the targeted employee is part of an open Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) case with other city employees against the city and previously reported workplace discrimination and sought mediation.
Per the release: “The noose incident is not an isolated event but part of a broader pattern of leadership’s inaction and obstruction. In December 2024, Allentown City Council voted 4-3 along with interference by Mayor Matt Tuerk to suspend an independent investigation into allegations of workplace discrimination by a collective of City Hall Employees.”
Council members Cynthia Mota, Candida Affa, Daryl Hendricks, and Santo Napoli voted to halt the investigation, according to the group, while council members Ce-Ce Gerlach, Natalie Sant and Ed Zucal opposed this decision.
Gerlach told WFMZ-TV, which covers the Lehigh Valley, that on Friday morning “a Black female employee walked into her office to begin her day and she found a noose that was on her computer, I was told, that was on her desk.”
Police said they are investigating.

Well the employee had to place the lanyard before anyone else got in.
These cases are a good example of letting THEM control the media. The only time this should be reported on is after an arrest is made, regardless of who’s arrested...but our media will continue to try to keep the races at war with each other here in the US.
It’s time for people with money on our side to start scooping out these Media Outlets and holding them to proper reporting standards.
You can be 100% sure that a racial incident is either a hoax or someone’s imagination run wild if you find a noose.
