“While we were dealing with a terrorist attack in New Orleans, we had drones being flown over our nuclear reactors in Louisiana.”
That’s what Gov. Jeff Landry said Thursday night while sitting next to President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in during dinner with some of the country’s Republican governors in Palm Beach, Florida.
Landry's comment came during a discussion arising from a reporter's question about the lack of available information on drone sightings over New Jersey.
“We’ve been asking the FAA to give these states the ability to mitigate these drones,” Landry said, referring the ability to take down or disable drones.
In an interview Friday, Landry said the Federal Aviation Administration has not granted Louisiana the authority to manage drone mitigation, so far opting only to restrict airspace over some of the state’s critical infrastructure.
“While that's appreciative and needed, that doesn’t solve our problem,” Landry explained. “We need the ability to take these drones down. There’s technology out there that allows us to do that.”
Drone investigation in West Feliciana Parish Landry said Friday that drone activity over a nuclear plant in Louisiana occurred within the past several days, though he declined to provide greater detail.

"While drones are not a substantial risk nor a threat to safety, we have reported the sightings to the appropriate law enforcement officials," a statement from Entergy said.Fascinating how they claim drones aren’t a safety threat—despite not knowing whose they are, what they want, where they come from, or, in some cases, even what they are.

Yup—in a bureaucratic society people make up excuses for not acting.
In a civilized and vibrant society people act first and analyze after the event including apologizing if necessary.

If Louisiana shot one down what is the FAA going to do about it?
We are a nation of pathetic bureaucrats—both parties.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has established airspace restrictions over certain nuclear facilities, particularly for drones (under 14 CFR 99.7).

"Just declare it’s Drone Hunting Season with no limit!" Having lived in Cajun country for almost two decades, it would probably be more effective to declare them off limits while simultaneously sponsoring a drone recipe cook off contest.

Steel shot? Are they worried the drones will eat toxic lead pellets and get sick?

Maybe it’s time to do what Russia does and surround places like this with anti drone netting.
