Wildfires complicate California Democrats' plans to lead Trump defiance
NBC News ^ | Jan. 10, 2025 | Alex Seitz-Wald

California was getting ready to fight President-elect Donald Trump. Instead, it's fighting raging wildfires and a crisis that risks tarnishing the state's image just as its leaders were positioning it to be a shining example of progressive governance.

A special session of the state Legislature that Gov. Gavin Newsom called shortly after the November election to position California to counter Trump has been overshadowed by the wildfires, the speed of which seemed to catch many officials off guard.

Newsom and other California Democrats have long held the state up as a national leader in addressing environmental issues, social inequality and economic innovation. But the wildfire crisis has exposed vulnerabilities in the state’s infrastructure and governance that critics argue undermine this narrative.

The fires themselves were propelled by an unusual confluence of extremely dry brush and violent winds, which have also grounded the aircraft that are firefighters’ best weapon.

But empty fire hydrants, a dispute about Los Angeles’ fire budget and preparedness, and a statewide insurance crisis (which has the potential to ruin homeowners who could not secure coverage for their destroyed homes) have converged into a political mess in a part of the country conservatives portray as representing everything they see wrong with America.

And the fires are only the latest challenge to occur on the watch of California Democrats, who for more than a decade have controlled every statewide office and have supermajorities in both chambers of the state Legislature. Increased crime, homelessness, droughts, fires, above-average gas and grocery costs and the most expensive housing prices in the contiguous United States have led many residents and businesses to leave a state that for a century saw only in-migration.

Trump wasted no time blaming the fires on Newsom, whom many expect to run for president in 2028...

I guess they would rather burn down most the state, if they can “get” Trump, whatever that means.

Newsom has 10,000 Mexican firefighters coming to stop the fires. Typical Californian - when confronted with work, first thought is, “Hire a Mexican to do it!”

Also...

Some of “Biden’s Guest” causing the fires?

The Palisades Fire is cranking off this evening and new evacuation orders have been given for North of Sunset Blvd to Encino Reservoir and West of the 405 Freeway to Mandeville Canyon.

In an interesting piece of reporting, it was revealed tonight that a senior LAFD official told Daily Mail reporters that on the day the fire started, a resident showed them a video of two people dumping gasoline in the area the fire started and lit it off.

The LAFD official told the resident to turn the video into police because they needed to focus on emergency response and evacuations.

As of Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters they “have not received any reports of arson’ related to the Palisades Fire.”

“We had a resident come to us and said he got a video of two men dumping gas and lighting it off,’ said the LAFD official, who asked to remain anonymous.”

I will cover this new and more developments on tomorrow’s episode.

Also, I received information tonight that British Columbia is sending an Incident Management Team to California with a total of 100+ firefighters. Alberta and Quebec are also sending resources. Neptune Aviation and Bridger Aerospace are also sending aviation resources.

Meanwhile… Hotshot crews are working to the contain the Eaton Fire, one Hotshot crewmemeber told me today that it’s kicking their ass, but progress is being made.

Newsom’s election in 2028 was displayed from a helicopter over LA for the last 4 days.

“California was getting ready to fight President-elect Donald Trump.”

Just totally unbelievable!
Hopefully, California voters now see the importance of voting for individuals with integrity and leadership.

NBC News must have had a hard time writing that. Newscum and his fellow communist scum in Mexifornia is not going to be able to fight Trump at all, they will be fighting a rebellion of enraged Californians to try to keep being hung in the streets. The fires in LA are apocalyptic AND destroying the homes of the rich and powerful. Newscum will be fighting a recall soon.

Newsom is bringing in 10,000 Mexican firefighters to come to California’s work for them. Seriously.

Typical Californian rich guy.

“Hard work to do?” “Go find some Mexicans!”

The wild fires are going to the start of the down fall of the Democrat party in California if not the rest of the nation.

The wild fires highlight the the full spectrum of Democrat dysfumnctionm corruption and insanity

The extent of their mismanagement, incompetent and negligence is stunning.

And lets face it, this disaster plays to President Trumps strengths. Few are better at redeveloping and building than Trump

He is on the right side of the issues, he is in his wheelhouse and the timing is pitch perfect.

By the time he is finished with Newsome, the empty suit will be deflated.

New mandatory evacuations for Palisades fire with new standby orders issued too. Are they hauling in the 10,000 Mexicans to start new fires?
Oregon is weird, but California is psycho.

Yeah, I can see how losing over $100 billion in your property value (and counting) could put a crimp in your plans, especially when you’re no longer insured...

Fall of the Democrat party?

CLIMATE CHANGE is to blame. Did you miss the memo?

And everything else that isn’t what Democrat leaders tell their sheep = misinformation.

Seriously. You don’t know any of these people, do you?

It matters not what they see, experience, or should be obvious to anyone not dumber than a stump THEY WILL VOTE DEMOCRAT.

Dems have chopped up the electorate. LGBTQ+ - Republicans will jail you, let you not marry, transition your kids. Blacks are waking up a bit to the game and some voted for Trump but usually it’s a reliable group. Dems are stuck on stupid.

Here’s a typical media spin on recent events:

L.A. firestorms bring waves of fire myths, disinformation. Here’s how to debunk it and not get fooled

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-01-10/debunking-social-media-fire-myths-no-the-hollywood-sign-didnt-burn

If you try to share anything other than CNN, NYT, LA Times to these folks, “That’s not a real news source!”

Seriously.

They’ll keep voting for Democrats.

Look at England. 250,000 white women rapes and Labour still gets votes? They should push the invaders into the ocean.

I am older now but the California crap started 40 years ago.

Just an observation but all of my relatives on the left coast were all about more tax and fees for visiting a NP.
I said we already pay for it. They didn’t agree.

It was during Reagan, I was TN and they were CA and WA.

It’s been over 26 years since Pete Wilson left office as Governor. Arnold was a RINO and he endorsed Kamala & no real Republican would do that. It’s also been over 40 years since the GOP controlled the State Assembly. Everything wrong in California is the fault of the Democrats.
