In this edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words,” Hanson, author of “The End of Everything: How Wars Descend into Annihilation,” provides an analysis of California's wildfire management and policy failures under Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass.
Hanson discusses the mismanagement of resources, lack of effective forest management, and prioritization of diversity and inclusion over merit in firefighting efforts. He labels the situation as a “systems breakdown” and warns of the larger implications for California's future.
From the comments: If Newsom and Bass aren't forced to resign over this, then CA will never learn anything.
A YouTube video from Prof Hanson regarding the Los Angeles fires. About 7 minutes.

Newsom is horrible, but the stopping of controlled burns and cleaning up brush stopped (or at least slowed down considerably) before him.
Newsome continued the policies. He did not correct.
Nobody talking about drones anymore though.
Governor Newsom’s been a busy boy:
<><>he sent Trump’s plan to bring water to southern California to the courts.
<><>tax funds for California citizens’s emergencies was taking up space in the budget
<><>so Newsom gave it to illegal immigrants.
<><>Newsom and world-renowned traveler Mayor Bass had a great idea
<><>lots of “surplus firefighting equipment” was just laying around
<><>Newsom and Bass donated it to Ukraine.
Oops. The water, the tax money and the fire equipment are all gone.
But the wind returned and joined forces with the wildfire.
The rest is ashes of 10,000 homes destroyed.
More than just a disaster, the failure by state and local officials to properly and adequately fund and prepare for such wildfires was a deliberate act which gave aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States and of the State of California (State Constitution, Art. 1, Sect. 18).

Stick a fork in Gavin. He's done.
Yep, his political career is O V E R.
Sadly, most Americans will be convinced by legacy media that it’s climate change to blame.
Newsome is visibly shaken because the fires gutted the homes of his donors along with his political career.
And ironically, Obama was the only former President at Carter's funeral who appeared to give Trump any respect.
Methinks Governor Goodhair is finished, but Obama is an opportunist and will take advantage of this Democrat party crisis to consolidate power by pretending to move to the center.
The Progressive Left/Woke Left/Marxist Left all have false assumptions about reality.
Those assumptions lead to disasters like this.
This could easily be a scene out of Atlas Shrugs, showing the incompetence of political looters who do not know how to build, only to destroy and loot.
Atlas Shrugged, not Atlas Shrugs... sorry.
To late California got what it voted for they never listen or lean they are like teaching a mule to sing.
Trump needs to declare a state of emergency in California and take over the management and care of the forest and the natural resources
Not a chance...as long as there is a majority of democrats. Even if he goes, he would just be replaced by another democrat douche.
No Democrats are defending Gavin. His political career is toast.
That's it.
There are reports of arsonists intentionally starting fires and looters raiding evacuated homes. California has long been notorious for denying mental illness and insisting that it is merely a variation of normal. It's not.
Furthermore, California has long pretended that "homeless" drug addicts and drop-outs are either unfortunate victims of injustice or harmless refugees from society's demands, in any case of little cause for concern, even when they defecate on city sidewalks and litter public parks with contaminated needles.
California is caught up in a suicidal frenzy of iconoclasm, permissiveness, and ostentatious irresponsibility--as Victor Davis Hanson says, "a society gone mad".
If sanity and sobriety do not prevail--and millions of people do not return to sanity and acknowledge the dangers of mental illness----it's going to destroy what's left of California.
Bump
Sadly, most Americans will be convinced by legacy media that it’s climate change to blame.“
I wouldn’t say most.
