France’s top diplomat fires a warning shot across the bows of Donald Trump, warning Europe considers Greenland part of its “sovereign borders” and should be left alone.
European leaders are reacting with alarm as past and future President Donald Trump talks up the importance of the United States acquiring Greenland, the world’s largest island and a strategically valuable if underdeveloped Arctic territory in the North Atlantic. As Trump’s son flew into Greenland on the Trump jet this week the French foreign minister has appeared to tacitly put the notion of the United States buying territory off an ally on a par, ethically, with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, calling it an affront to sovereign borders.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot told radio station France Inter he considers Greenland to be “a territory of the European Union.” He said the French government’s position is it is “out of the question that the European Union could let other nations of the world, whoever they may be, attack its sovereign borders”.

Trump never said he’d attack Greenland. A reporter asked him if he’d use the military to get Greenland and Trump declined to say yes or no. He doesn’t like letting the leftist media frame how the discussion should go.
We can do both. Taking Greenland would be very beneficial to the US.

I am surprised at the number of people actually “reacting” to this stuff. They are being all indignant and outraged over something that isn’t serious.
On the flip side, folks on the right are walking around as if this is going to happen as well.
Have they forgotten how Trump negotiates?
The response should have been, “Talk to me when you get in office.”
Let me explain it to the simple minded who operate under their own limitations of thinking about, at max, one thing at a time:
Trump is using this to highlight that the EUro-weenies are unwilling and unable to defend themselves thus giving China a free hand in Greenland. It’s a setup by Trump, one of his greatest strengths.
Now do you feel better?

Just guessing, but I might think Trump’s position would be that he’d use military means if he were to have to compete with an enemy nation for possession of Greenland.

I’m not France is the best country to threaten Trump militarily.
Well I wish he’d tell us the plan for illegal aliens, inflation, and spending.
Instead all we hear him talk about Greenland, Gulf of America, and the Panama Canal.
