The President-elect's appointment of Indian-American Sriram Krishnan as one of his policy advisors has triggered a debate on key visa provisions for Indian immigrants?/i>

Indians have made substantial contributions to the US tech industry, with many holding key positions in top companies. For instance, Kevan Parekh recently took over as Apple's chief financial officer, Indian-origin CEOs are leading companies like Google, Microsoft, YouTube. Beyond the tech world, too, Indian-Americans are making their mark in US politics, as evident from President-elect Donald Trump's recent appointments of several Indians to key positions in his second-term Cabinet.

How surprising was it that Big Tech, led by foreign-born Indian CEOs, led the censorship and purging of American patriots from social media? It is not at all surprising to those paying attention.

Interesting observation!

To the point of the article, even if they just strictly enforce the program as it is described and designed it would be a major step in the right direction.
That .001 percent of the time that *only* someone who is not a citizen can actually do the job.

Really, it should be used, as with anything relating to our immigration policy, as a brain drain on the rest of the world. Get the smart ones who want either become Americans or want to live here but make sure that any job that can be filled by an American is filled by an American

ndtv.com-——The outgoing Biden administration has relaxed rules for H-1B visas that will make it easier for American companies to hire foreign workers with special skills and facilitate a smoother transition from F-1 student visas to H-1B visas, a move that is likely to benefit thousands of Indian tech professionals.

The most sought-after H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise......mostly from India.

President Joe Biden and his family were given tens of thousands of dollars in gifts from foreign leaders in 2023, according to an annual accounting published by the State Department on Thursday, with first lady Jill Biden receiving the single most expensive present: a $20,000 diamond from India’s leader.

The 7.5-carat diamond from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was easily the most costly gift presented to any member of the first family in 2023, although Jill Biden also received a brooch valued at $14,063 from the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States and a bracelet, brooch and photograph album worth $4,510 from the president and first lady of Egypt.

President Biden also received a number of expensive presents, including a commemorative photo album valued at $7,100 from South Korea’s recently impeached President Suk Yeol Yoon, a $3,495 statue of Mongolian warriors from the Mongolian prime minister, a $3,300 silver bowl from the sultan of Brunei, a $3,160 sterling silver tray from the president of Israel, and a collage worth $2,400 from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

If India is so full of tech geniuses, why don’t they stay home and make their own tech? It’s a friggen scam and anyone who ever worked at a large bank, or tech company knows it. For every one smart person there are a dozen lazy, incompetent, arrogant doshits who don’t wash their hands after taking a dump.

America made enormous technological progress by providing a place where people could produce stuff and keep most of the profits.

Many, many people came to the USA to do exactly that. We attracted the best, as long as we did not give them welfare.

“If India is so full of tech geniuses, why don’t they stay home and make their own tech?”

Because their government will not allow it. Much of the world is smothered by corrupt governments.

Look at Americans from Japan, Americans from Nigeria. They do exceptionally well here, without welfare.

H1B is a government program. All government programs expand exponentially.

I know there’s a lot of people in India, but do they have any doctors left?

I worked a few years in India recently. Yes they have plenty of doctors and medicine is both good and inexpensive. A teaching hospital nearby cost 10 Rupees for admission which included general checkup, blood pressure, weight, interview with doctor. Also eye exam and vision prescription if you wanted it.

That is about 16 cents.

Congress should open the doors both ways. It should be made as easy for Americans to work in those countries producing the mass of H1b and related visas. I nearly had a job in Europe but it was admitted that the position had to be given to an EU resident. (Never heard of 5 short listings before. That must have been one heck of a fight on my behalf).

Let’s help build up other nations and civilizations if the American oligarchy is too cheap to pay free market wages and wishes to only pay subverted market wages.

H2B be chases Americans out of jobs; but most H2Bs seem to be things like waitresses and sales clerks at state/national parks or tourist sites; so they are not usually the family breadwinners. (And some of the Eastern European college girls waiting tables are cute, but I digress.)

Americans should always be hired first.

I past caring how what America does for itself affects other countries.

They should fix their own problems. Most of them have great natural resources that could be of value to the world. If they’d clean up their corrupt government themselves instead of depending on the US for everything, the world would be a better place.

If El Salvador and Argentina can do it, so can any other country.
