Suhas Subramanyam was sworn into the 119th Congress earlier on Friday, marking a historic moment as the first Indian-American and South Asian to represent Virginia's 10th Congressional District.
Subramanyam, who succeeds retiring Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, now represents a district that spans Loudoun, Rappahannock, Fauquier, and parts of Prince William and Fairfax Counties. This achievement not only sets a precedent for Virginia but also for the East Coast, where Subramanyam becomes the first individual of South Asian descent to serve in the US Congress.
Subramanyam's rise to Congress is deeply personal. His mother, who immigrated through Dulles Airport within District 10, was present to witness her son's swearing-in. As he placed his hand on the Bhagavad Gita and took the oath of office, Subramanyam reflected on his family's journey.
He shared, "Today my parents got to see me sworn in as the first Indian American and South Asian Congressman from Virginia. If you had told my mother when she landed in Dulles Airport from India that her son would go on to represent Virginia in the United States Congress, she might have not believed you, but my story is the kind of promise that America holds. I am honoured to be the first, but not the last, as I represent Virginia's 10th in Congress."

The Great Replacement
How many firsts are there?
Kacklin’ Kommie is chopped liver?
You’re right, he’s part of the rat party.
Not a good day for this once Judeo-Christian nation. Both old and new testaments of the Bible witness against the many gods of Hinduism. The Bhagavad Gita is pantheistic, teaching the worship of many gods.
Thou shalt not have any other gods before me: the God of the Bible. The Bible teaches worship of one God only.
Indians who are American citizens do generally vote Democrat although several I know are staunch republicans, not many though. India is a socialist state as per it’s constitution but is much more of a free market economy now.
> How many firsts are there? <
There has to be at least a thousand different adjectives that can be used to describe a person. And the number of permutations…
So we’re just getting started here.
Unless of course the politician is a Republican.
Then the generic “another MAGA extremist” will do.
What’s his stance on H1b and student visa scammers?
The famously annoying Sen. Mazi Hirono is a Buddhist (”non-practicing”) of the Jodo Shinshu School. Means 浄土真宗, “The True Essence of the Pure Land Teaching” or Pure Land Buddhism.
The religion venerates 7 monks.
((One:Tan-Luan — (Donran in Chinese) Developed the six-syllable nembutsu chant commonly recited.
((Another: Shandao — Zendo in Chinese) —Stressed the importance of verbal recitation of Amitabha Buddha’s name.))

Landed at Dulles, huh?
How strenuous.
My ancestors “landed” in Philadelphia in the 1700s on a wooden ship that came from Europe.
They walked down the Emigrant Trail into Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley not long after.
No affirmative action was accorded to them by the locals, who were rather hostile to their settlement.
I was gonna ask if he was a Braman, but it’s right in his name.

Another pagan POS.
“How many firsts are there?”
Well, we are now down to the Congressional District level. There’s always County and Ward levels. But I think we need to get down to the Zip Code level. Or maybe the Block level.
I’m the first Descendent of a German Dad whose parents fled from the Soviets in 1945 living on our block. That’s GOT to count for something.
“”Must be a Demonrat as no party affiliation is noted.””
No mention of party whatsoever....really odd!!!
“”His mother, who immigrated through Dulles Airport “”
HOW does one do that?
Demoncrat, of course.

I’m sure he must be a Congress I party socialist, as are most Indians here in the DC metro area, but almost anything is better than Wexton.
If he’s a ‘dual citizen’ of India also, this should be exposed and publicized bigly.
Every ‘dual citizen’ in public service needs to renounce their allegiance to any other country than the United States, and the state they represent.
