Democrats paid the price for abandoning moderate Clinton-era policies

Let’s face it, the Democratic Party got off track.

Back in the late ’90s, President Bill Clinton had approval ratings in the 70s as the party stood for a form of centrist progressivism. It meant finding a vital center in which the party looked to give people in need a helping hand but required people take responsibility for their own actions. That meant the adoption of policies like Pell Grants that required a B average or work requirements for welfare or a balanced budget. The economy soared.

But the left fought these policies, and gradually they regained more and more power, beginning especially with the second term of President Barack Obama and ultimately becoming the guiding hand of the Biden administration. The Sanders-Biden pack, combined with a raft of Obama staff in key positions, sent the party into uncharted waters.

Clinton was never moderate to begin with. Congress forced him to be.

I’m looking around, seeing how much we’ve been pushed hard left, and I question whether the DEMs have paid any price.

Clinton took a lot of undue and undeserved credit for many things Newt Gingrich did.

If they paid the price, most of these corrupt lawyers would be in jail.

It’s because the left got tired of faking a desire to help the country.

So they went full commie with Obama, whose greatest desire is to destroy this country.

Obama bumped Hillary and when 2016 came she had murdered a bunch more people including the Benghazi people and had become much more radical than Bill. I think she was always more radical. Bill’s one of those go along get along sort of people. Hillary is a true ideologue.

I don’t think the Clinton coalition is feasible anymore either. The electorate has changed enough and the difference between the left and the right is so significant now that I don’t think the Democrat party has room for a moderate.

Every time they do get a moderate, they ostracized and ridicule them to either get them to start singing from the same crazy sheet music, or force them out. The name Elon Musk comes to mine as an example.

I think you are exactly right about Beelzebubba Clinton.

I don't believe Clinton has any personal political convictions whatsoever - his only concern is where his next bl*wj*b is coming from.

Clinton wasn’t driven by political ideology. His mind was on something else...

Exactly... Though he was far more “moderate” than where they Democrat party is today

The long term decline of Democrats began under Clinton.

The purging of the blue dogs and demand for ideological purity that happened under Clinton put the Democrats onto the long term path downward they are on today.

Obama’s divisive embracing of Identity politics just increased the decline.

I would rather have that than have committed leftist ideologues who will suffer and let people suffer their policy consequences.

My problem with the whole havin’ a beer with Clinton thing is that he wasn’t just a womanizer. He was a rapist. It’s hard to feel friendly towards a person who would brutalize a woman.

Clinton is the reason the south permanently switched Republican after 150 years . Disgusting democrat morals were to much for the Bible Belt.
