New Orleans is still reeling on Friday, the third day since the truck-ramming attack killed 14 people, as well as the alleged terrorist who died during a shootout with police early on New Year's Day.
The FBI released new eerie surveillance images Thursday showing the now-deceased suspect – 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar – just about an hour before he allegedly sped a rented Ford pick-up through a crowd of Bourbon Street revelers in the attack that officials say was inspired by the Islamic State. More than 30 others were injured. Despite previously investigating the potential of accomplices in the attack, the FBI said Thursday the bureau is confident Jabbar acted alone.
The investigation now turned to how Jabbar - a U.S. Army veteran who recently held a six-figure job – was radicalized. He grew up Muslim in Texas and most recently lived in Houston. **
"Let us be very clear—what happened here in New Orleans was an act of terrorism. It was premeditated and an evil act," he added.
The surveillance images released by the FBI show Jabbar, dressed neatly in a long light brown coat, a dark button-down shirt, blue jeans and brown dress shoes, walking along Dauphine St. near Governor Nicholls St. at 2:03 a.m. CST – about an hour before the attack. Additional images showed coolers Jabbar allegedly placed on the street. Officials said he planted improvised explosive devices inside with the intention of causing added carnage.

Cannot confirm veracity of information. through a 3rd party and not someone I know personally:
IEDs were on a timer. Scheduled to go off at 12AM. Vehicular Attack was supposed to be the secondary attack.
IEDs failed to detonate so assailant became frustrated and drove through crowd.
Partial IED locations:
St. Louis cathedral, Airbnb house, location near cafe du Monde, an unspecified corner further down bourbon.
The only IED to detonate was at the Airbnb.
FBI currently trying to track down everyone in contact with cooler on corner of bourbon that housed the IED to rule out prints and DNA.
Which Iman radicalized him??
In the photo of him places the IEDs, he’s wearing jeans and a black shirt. Later, when he did the attack, he wore desert cammo and body armor.
May have been his plan to have the bombs go off and draw a larger crowd onto the main road = higher kill count.
Given the crowd there for a large football game the death count of 15 - though obviously tragic - was low compared to what it could have been had he attacked the area immediately before or after the game.
Is anyone calling this Muslim terror, or are they just referring to it as terror, without ascribing any motive or ideology to the terrorist?

Btw, CAIR tested through polling a way to spin concerns over radical Islam and invented the term “Islamophobia” - inspired by the equally politically manipulative word “homophobia.”

Why wasn’t the area cleared until a bomb squad could verify it wouldn’t blow up?

Dressed neatly? Someone doesn’t know what “dressed neatly” means...Looks like a homeless person....probably wouldn’t have grabbed anyone’s attention if there are homeless people on the street anyway!
Jeans and the overcoat/raincoat is a bit odd. But he’d have fit in with the post-midnight crowd for sure.
Apparently his plan was for the bombs to go off and herd the crowd to the nearby street where he’d then get a higher kill count. The IEDs never went off though.
Yesterday we were hearing that he had ‘converted’ to Islam recently; but this article says he grew up Muslim, left for a while, and then returned.
NPR was carrying their water last night. They managed to find the family of the one muzzy that was killed by the other muzzy and interview them, getting all the "He does not represent true moozleems." quotes they were hoping for for their circus seal audience.
