A poll recently conducted by the Angus Reid Institute has shown that the Liberals have fallen to third place nationally.
The Conservatives, meanwhile, have risen even closer to 50%.
According to the poll, 45% of Canadians expressed an intention to vote for Pierre Poilievre's Conservatives, up 2% since the survey was last sent out. The NDP under Jagmeet Singh gained 1% support, bringing their total to 21%. With Justin Trudeau at the helm, the Liberals lost five points, coming in at just 16%.
The Conservatives saw their support grow or remain stable in every region of the country, save for Alberta and Ontario, where it went down by 1%. In British Columbia, support for the party went up by 10%.
The Liberals were down across the board, suffering their greatest losses in Quebec, -8%, and British Columbia, -6%.
In a press release, the Angus Reid Institute explained that the Liberals' results were "the lowest level of support for the party" it had reported since 2014, and "quite possibly the lowest vote intention the Liberals have ever received in the modern era."
Among those who voted Liberal in 2021, only 7% said they "strongly approve" of Trudeau's performance. A further 39% said they "moderately approve."A full 25% said they now "strongly disapprove of the leader of the party that had their support last time around.
Among all voters, Trudeau's popularity fell to 22%, the lowest in his tenure as prime minister.
The poll was conducted between December 27 and 30, 2024 among a representative randomized sample of 2,261 Canadian adults, all of whom were members of the Angus Reid Forum.
I think Poilievre has a lot to do with it.
The Neocons will simply repeat what they did in Romania and nullify the election if Trudeau doesn’t win...and of course they’ll blame it on “American Interference”.
“It really is striking how much evidence there is that points towards him being Castro son. Just the photos alone raise huge questions, and then when you look at the timeline of his mother going to Cuba and her close relationship with Castro, yeah….. old Mr. Trudeau is a cuckold of epic proportions”
Wasn’t Hillary caught collecting DNA from UN members back when? Wonder why someone has not done some covert DNA collection on him and his possible relations in Cuba to match them up? Seems it wouldn’t be that hard to follow them around until they left some DNA somewhere. Restaurant or somewhere like it.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. Quebec has a single NDP in parlaiment; Nova Scotia and New Brunswick (the other regions with high French populations) have zero. Bloc Quebecois dominates Quebec politically; while the party includes as many liberals as conservatives, they have reliably sided with conservatives in forming the government every time.
The difference between this and the last time that the Liberal party was so unpopular is that the last time, the NDP was much more popular, and the two were massively successful at not cannabilizing each others’ votes. The NDP won 33% of seats with only 30% of the popular vote, and very successfully foiled the PC’s ability to govern. The PC got less than 40% of the vote, and a clear minority of the three-party vote; and the BQ did dismally.
According to THIS poll, the PC is leading the three-party vote, 45%-37%.
The Liberals’ best hope would be to Biden it, and hope that the next PM is less hated, but the new PM could still lose a vote of confidence because while the NDP doesn’t want to hold an election while the PC is so strong, they also don’t want to be seen so completely as the LP’s toadies. They are far less popular than they were in 2011 and supporting the new PM *could* be far more damanging to them than it would be helpful for the LP; indeed their largest uptick in support came after they seceeded from the LP governing coalition.
People have tired of living on their knees about time to take a stand against liberalism for the safety of a society.
I didn’t realize the trucker protests had hurt his support. I figured they might even have increased his popularity within his coalition. That’s good to hear.
I have no idea. But it would probably not be that hard I’d assume for a fellow politician to get ahold of a glass or cup he used
I agree... I don’t think it would be that hard.
