Trump team orders ‘all intended nominees’ to stop posting on social media ahead of Senate confirmations

President-elect Donald Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles sent a message Sunday ordering nominees to refrain from any posting on social media as Senate confirmation hearings are scheduled to start next week.

“While this instruction has been delivered previously, I am reiterating that no member of the incoming administration or Transition speaks for the United States or the President-elect himself,” Wiles wrote in a memo obtained by The Post.

“Accordingly, all intended nominees should refrain from any public social media posts without prior approval of the incoming White House counsel,” she said in the Dec. 29 missive.

The first-ever female chief of staff, nicknamed the “Ice Maiden,” also noted that she appreciates “how enthusiastic everyone is” about joining the second Trump term in her otherwise frank directive.

Trump’s nominees have been silent ahead of what is expected to be a fraught process for some in the GOP-controlled Senate. If Democrats band together against any nominee’s confirmation, Republicans can’t afford to lose any more than three votes from their own conference.

The Wiles memo, according to a Trump transition source, is not in response to the recent social media ruckus caused by Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) chairs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy over H-1B visas that had MAGA world spinning.

DOGE is not an official entity, despite its name, and does not need Senate confirmation, meaning the tech moguls are free to convey their opinions online.

“It was a reminder of the guidance to intended nominees as confirmation hearings get underway next week,” the transition source told The Post.

Several of Trump’s cabinet picks have faced scrutiny in recent weeks, but only one, former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), shelved his nod for attorney general after a private Senate whip count was shared with him indicating he didn’t have the votes

They should also close their social media and make it inaccessible until the nomination process is over.

I think this is also directed at us..."to quiet down a bit".

And I think he's 100% right.

What?

You mean we're not supposed to run off in a different direction every time the antique gaslight press shouts "Look! Squirrel!"

excellent!

VPs at Fortune 500 companies don’t around posting their personal policy preferences willy-nilly on social media, so why should the VPs of the Chief Executive of the FedGov think they have that right? ... It’s a misnomer that FedGov employees work for the Republic ... their boss is the Chief Executive of the FedGov and THAT’S the boss who they work for ...

Information wants to be free. I would be happy to know what these ‘leaders’ are thinking.

Musk and Ramaswamy aren’t nominees, of course. I expect they’ll cut back on posts anyway, at least until after the inauguration.

The good old GOPe call for patriots to shut up and lose after winning an election. I will not be shutting up on social media. We won an election, quit licking boots.

Big mouths Ramaswamy and Musk had their shovels taken away after digging a deep hole for newly elected Trump. Trump was smart to put them all on notice to STFU. Musk needs to take a big step back. He has been taken to the woodshed. Ramascummy should take a hint as well. American citizens ain’t playing!!! We gave Trump a mandate and this fact is non-negotiable. We want the invading foreigners gone and the predatory government bureaucracy gutted and chastised.

Americans are not playing. We are in charge and we hired Trump to do a job and it had better get done or the 2026 midterms will be brutal. The H1B caucus of two needs to shut up, stay out of the way, and do as they are told.

There is a difference between a nominee and an intended nominee.
