The answer is so simple it should be in CAPS in the first paragraph. He can remove every conservative talk show host.!!!! He is not interested in ratings. SilencevConservatives is his goal.

Left wing AM radio was never very competitive with conservative AM radio. If you can't put the conservative stations out of business by offering a better left wing alternative, just buy them and change the format to something that still has an audience.

I keep being told that radio is dead, and all the talk shows I miss hearing are on podcasts or streaming.
Podcasts and streaming? It’s just not the same.
No sense of the local community except topic by topic.

Maybe Soros wants a form of media less dependent on the digital grid.

Well DUH! How do you silence the only platform where conservative voices are largely unfettered? You buy them off.

This transaction has to be stopped in its tracks.

Correct. The answer to the question —Why is he doing it?— could not possibly be clearer.

Will the Radio Stations Prove Influential?

Yes. Latinos still listen to radio, especially to talk radio. Conservative talk radio - both Spanish and English language - has a lot to do with the dramatic shift toward Trump by Latinos. Trump himself has more to do with it, but Soros can't do anything about him. Soros' purchase of Spanish-language radio stations is a big problem - hopefully Trump's new FCC commissioner will put a stop to this.

All of our local television stations have been purchased by national media conglomerates. The slant immediately moved leftward, and instead of meaningful local reporting, we get canned, overproduced documentary style “stories” that clearly came from the home office.

Plus they are rapidly replacing all our (white) local reporters and weather personalities with DEI (black female) hires who don’t know sh*t about their subject matter.

At one time the federal telecommunications laws had provisions against ownership of multiple stations by a single entity/person. As I recall, this was done away with by Clinton and our Republican congress-critters who were only too eager to accommodate large corporate interests at the expense of local communities.

Result: There are no local or dissenting voices from the leftist narrative.

Why On Earth Is Soros Buying Radio Stations?“

Well duh, many of the stations are the main Spanish language stations in a number of major markets. Yeah it’s a real mystery.

Until they have control of the Internet, THEY will not be able to control what people think. For example, there are MANY SITES on the web that will CORRECTLY explain the root cause of the Ukraine War, and it be nothing at all like what the Leftists in the Media and Western Governments want us to believe.

So have fun paying DJ’s to spout Deep State garbage, but it’s too late, we’ve moved on.

My wife was in the radio business for about 25 years.

It is a shell of what it used to be.

I cannot remember the last time I listened to terrestrial radio in my car. I test my back up radio a few times a year. That’s it.

To squelch conservatives. He must be aware that liberal stations fail consistently.

Except that godforsaken NPR that never fails, because WE foot the bill for it. That must end.

Or buying up buggy whip manufacturers in 1910.

You have to wonder why Soros and Buffett are investing in a moribund medium. They could be stuck in the past. Obviously listeners of Ben Shapiro or Hugh Hewitt will migrate to their podcasts if the local stations now owned by the leftist investors remove them. The only rationale I can see is if they use the radio stations to reach Hispanic audiences whose loyalty to the Democrats is declining.

Because leftist talk radio has been so successful in the past.
