CNN journalists (sic) offer brutal assessment of why their network is failing
Daily Mail ^

CNN's stubbornly leftist journalists think they know why their viewers are abandoning ship in record numbers - they're not going hard enough against Donald Trump anymore.

That is the suggestion from reporters who spoke anonymously to The Washington Post this week as the network recovered from some of its lowest ratings ever.

Insiders claim a decision to hold a town hall with the president-elect back in May 2023 upset staff and viewers, as did the decision not to fact check Trump during his debate earlier this year.

'It is widely felt at CNN that we didn't meet the mark,' one CNN journalist, who requested to remain anonymous, said of the network's election coverage.

CNN has insisted it remains a leader among networks and on its digital platform and TV viewership is down across the board.

'I think a lot of it can be explained by the viewers making a decision that they just don't like what we're doing,' the journalist added. 'The viewers are pretty smart.'

They were anti-Trump 24/7, including calling him a fascist and danger to democracy.

The lesson learned is... be more biased??

Is Trump forcibly suppressing anarcho-syndicalists or anyone critical of him or his aims? No. That’s what fascists do.

Is Trump intent on having government run private business? No. That’s what fascists do.

Is Trump developing a singular ethnic indenty to rule and govern in the USA? No. That’s what fascists do.

Is Trump exalting the state over individuals when he speaks honorably of “we, the people?” No. That’s what fascists do.

Is Trump intent on using the US military to expand hegemony around the world? No. That’s what fascists do.

Does Trump dishonor people who hold faiths other than his own? No. That’s what fascists do.

If one wants to take the narrow, idiotic view that fascism consists of any form of firm authority, then all faithful Mom’s and Dad’s are “fascist,” as well as anyone who attempts to make rules and govern.

That makes any normal person a “fascist” in the eyes of those indoctrinated (not educated) in public schools.

This article brings to mind of saying that Napoleon had, and it’s a great one

Not really all faiths. They do seem to have affection for Muslim radicals.

For years their viewership has been falling

If you were running a business to give good returns to shareholders but kept the same old failing business plan, how could you stay in business??

At some point, share holders and ad buyers should have demanded change. But they seemingly have not.

Curious.

Heroin addict says his problem is he’s not doing enough heroin. If only he’d shoot up more often, things would be fine.

“as the network recovered from some of its lowest ratings ever.”

“Recovered” implies that CNN’s ratings are improving. Last I read that the ratings are still tanking. On the bright side, the “journalist’s” conclusion that they lost their audience because they weren’t tough enough on Trump is insane. They lost their audience because they didn’t win.

When you ‘know’ you’re intellectually superior, yet the masses won’t follow you, it *can’t be* that you’re wrong. It’s just that the masses are too stupid to understand! So their ‘problem’ is that their message doesn’t articulate well enough how bad Trump is.

It *has* to be - because their inner narcissist is just too arrogant to contemplate the mere possibility of being wrong, especially when all their ‘elite’ friends agree with them. This is why the left drifts toward fascism, if the masses can’t be convinced, at some point, you must FORCE them into compliance for their own good! The end really does justify the means and should be done by any means necessary....the whole “we’re on the right side of history” arrogance.

They never learn because they’re not even in denial, which would be a first step to understand the problem - the many things they’re wrong about.

A degree in journalism is what killed newspapers.

At one time newspapers had “reporters” who had one job and one set of instructions. The five W (who, what, when, where and why).

Somewhere along the line reporters became journalist who became advocates for “social justice” and instead of being neutral they began taking sides. Unfortunately for them they choose poorly and picked a side that goes against most Americans basic beliefs.

Newspapers and TV news shows are dying because people now have access to a world of sources and can get (if they want) multiple reports on what is going on and no longer need (or want) a gate keeper on the flow of information.

Perhaps that might best be described as a ‘dead cat bounce’.

I think the critical point was about 1963 or so.

About then, the Progressive movement had taken over the media networks and were looking for social movements to push. The old progressives who were for the United States were dying off. The new Progressives bought into their job to set the narrative for the United States and to Manufacture Consent for the policies they desired.

Watergate was a Media coup against a popular president.
