More than a dozen cars were broken into, and a 2019 silver Kia Sorento with Virginia license plates was stolen from the nearby Cobbles Elementary School parking lot, where churchgoers parked for the Christmas Eve Mass.
Parishioners expressed their disbelief.
“I mean, this is typically a safe area from what we understand,” said parishioner Mark Elsaesser. “We’ve been coming here a long time. Never seen anything like this happen, especially on the holidays, Christmas time. My wife and I got married here. We’ve had our daughter baptized here, so we’ve been coming here a very long time, and nothing like this has ever happened.”
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reports that there are currently no suspects, and the case remains under investigation.
Authorities urge residents to keep their vehicles locked and valuables out of sight. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 911.
For those planning to attend Christmas Day Mass at St. Joseph’s, services are scheduled for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Penfield is a suburb of Rochester, NY. Now all the suburbs near Rochester like Greece, Gates, and the rest have been infiltrated, and have been destroyed.
As dispicable as it is, church parking lots are a common target for vehicle break ins and thefts.
And the theives are indiscriminate as well, as disgusting as it is, funeral services are not exempt either.

I always like how anything north of White Plains is “Upstate.” Or maybe Yonkers.
I was born in the White Plains hospital. Was born Upstate or Downstate? I grew up in Ithaca, Utica and Syracuse and we vacationed in the Adirondacks, so definitely upstate.
It was a different world in the 50s. But I do remember Dad and his buddies complaining around 1963 about them being bled dry by Albany and all their tax money being sent to NYC.
We are in the finger lakes so it is a general term to describe anything North and West of Westchester county.
That’s my point. Over 99% of the state is called “upstate.” It’s like the center of the New Yorker universe is NYC. What egomaniacs.
