Don’t mess with us': Mossad details Israeli pager attack on Hezbollah on 60 Minutes
Jpost ^

Posted on 12/23/2024 8:39:42 AM PST by MNDude

The operation began over a decade ago, with Mossad initially weaponizing walkie-talkies sold to Hezbollah. "A walkie-talkie was a weapon just like a bullet or a missile," said "Michael," a former Mossad case officer whose identity was concealed during the interview. "Inside the battery, there is an explosive device… made in Israel."

The agents revealed to 60 Minutes how Mossad developed shell companies to sell these devices covertly. "We create a pretend world," said Michael. "We are the directors, producers, and main actors; the world is our stage." He explained this fake world as similar to The Truman Show, similar to the hit 1998 movie, starring Jim Carrey, living from birth in a huge television studio, filled with live cameras broadcasting to the world.

I’m not a real big fan of sharing your playbook with the enemy but I’m sure Mossad had their reasons for using cbs to get it out.

As they said in the interview, they can’t use a pager or walkie-talkie attack in the future so why not reveal what happened if only to put fear into the minds of their enemies.

As the one Mossad agent said the Pager/Walkie-Talkie attack is in the past and they have moved on to other new ideas, which given their history has to send a chill down the backs of their enemies.

The Mossad Agent said they had the walkie-talkie attack in place for over 10 years before carrying it out.

They can’t do it again in tfor obvious reasons, so they may as well generate paranoia. Well justified paranoia, but paranoia none the less.

If the Hezzies have to go all Amish with technology for fear of it exploding, they will be largely ineffective or at least hugely less effective. Lack of modern technology will cripple them.

Er, they can’t pull off that same attack in the same way ever again for obvious reasons.

This is all out there at this point.
Interesting that the agent explicitly denies modifying the electronics of the pagers for an intelligence function (read messages). But of course they did because that information is even more valuable that blowing fighters up.

Because it will never be replicated again. Israel’s enemies are even now inspecting and purging their electronics. They are hiding and paranoid to talk to each other.

I’m sure Mossad has moved on to something even more devious while its enemies search for more of the previous deviousness.

I strongly doubt those speaking had a bit to do with the pager attack.

They’re self-promoting guys who are looking to land gigs in the private espionage business.

Reminds me of Israeli gym bros who claim to be “security” for Hollywood types. Big tough guys who worked for some utterly insignificant looking guy who was the most dangerous man in the room.

Israel tolerates them because they are a loud, free, self-serving, source of disinformation.

Paranoia for sure. There were people afraid to use a microwaves and other electronic devices. As evil as Hezbollah is/was, totally justified.

Man, am I glad that they only use this type of subterfuge and manipulation against bad guys and not against the US government, it’s organizations, it’s corporations or it’s citizens.

Whew....THAT would be bad.
