House Republicans are currently debating a continuing resolution that would keep the government running through March 14, however many are heavily criticizing leadership for trying to push through unnecessary provisions negotiated behind closed doors.
The over 1,500-page spending measure will receive votes from both Democrats and Republicans and is being pushed by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Johnson said in September that he has “no intention of going back” to the “terrible tradition” of a Christmas omnibus.......
Here are some of the provisions drawing the biggest blowback from conservatives, many of which were identified on X by users like Small Gov Lizard:
・Members of Congress would be allowed their first pay raise since 2009
・A provision that allows lawmakers to opt out of Obamacare and use the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program instead
・Language on transparency in concert ticket pricing
・The federal government paying the entire bill to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge
・Accountability for recycling and composting fraud
・A “Feral Swine Eradication” program
・A continuation of the “Wool Trust Fund” until 2025
・Paying for juvenile delinquents to get their driver’s license
・No longer calling homeless adults and children “homeless”
・Extending a “sheep marketing grant program” until 2025
・The Global Engagement Center, the State Department’s office dedicated to censorship, will get another year of funding
・Spending $3 million dollars to test the inspection of molasses
These provisions and more have many House Republicans extremely frustrated with GOP leadership.

“...・A “Feral Swine Eradication” program...”
I would vote for a bounty on coyotes in suburban areas.
And may that time come soon.
Sheep and goat raisers were convinced to accept federal fees/taxes in exchange for collective marketing efforts etc to help their industry. Supposedly in this way everyone would pay a little and everyone would benefit. Now the govt wants to eliminate the benefits, while keeping the fee/taxes. ( what I understood from people in the industry).
Predators have catastrophically affected the business. One wild boar will eat a goat per night, for instance. Roving groups of dogs ( pets from city people who move into the country) often kill dozens of sheep or goats in in a blood feenzy, eating none. Coyotes and mountain lions are common in areas where they were exterminated. Eagles are protected. Tough business.
It’s a shame, because natural fabrics have advantages. Fireproof. Warm and water resistant due to alpha and beta helix of fibers, etc.

“I would vote for a bounty on coyotes in suburban areas.’
Given the government’s record on the other problems it has tried to solve, we’ll have feral hogs parading down Main Street like those monkeys in India. A bounty program by the states is the way to go.
I'm all for that one! It might help cure the pox of sociopathic politicians, lawyers, leftists, RINOs, globalists and Deep State scum.
Why isn’t the shipping company and insurance paying to replace the Key Bridge? I “get” that it is critical infrastructure, but, “you breakee, you payee!”
Agreed.
This isn’t nearly as bad as I thought the list was gonna be.
A lot of silliness, but nothing I read is creating a 40 trillion dollar debt.
It’s easier for us to get mad at sililness than SS, medicare and the military’s horrifically bloated budget and welfare costs
I have some faint hope for Johnson, but that has since evaporated. He is a spineless E.
The provision to insulate members of Congress from federal investigation by allowing them to quash any subpoena for records burned me up. It was there solely to protect J6 committee members and puts Congress above the law. It had nothing to do with funding. Johnson was willing to hide it in there and sneak it by before Trump took office. Johnson really has to go. Dude is a snake.
This is the minutiae.
No one in Congress should receive a raise. They should feel the sting of the inflation they helped create.
On the horizon.
Housing Insecurity: This term emphasizes the lack of stable housing rather than defining the individuals themselves by their situation. It suggests a temporary condition that can be addressed with policy and support.
Unhoused Status: Similar to “unhoused,” this term focuses on the state of not having a house rather than lacking a home, which can be seen as more inclusive of the community and personal connections one might maintain despite not having a physical address.
Shelter Displacement: This name highlights the displacement from adequate shelter, acknowledging that the issue is systemic rather than personal.
Residential Transience: This term underscores the temporary and often unstable nature of living situations without fixed residence, focusing on the mobility aspect which many experiencing homelessness might encounter.
Domicile Deprivation: This name directly points to the deprivation of a domicile, which can resonate with the need for basic human rights like shelter.
Housing Exclusion: Suggests that the issue is about exclusion from the housing system, potentially pushing for inclusionary policies or practices.
Each of these names attempts to shift the narrative from a label that might carry stigma to one that describes the situation more objectively or sympathetically, encouraging empathy and action.
shut it down, biden will own this
There are around 50 Eskimo words for “snow”, depending on the dialect. There are any number of reasons a person may not have a home, but words should be descriptive rather than an attempt to provoke some emotional response. That is a matter of personal interpretation of the facts, and wrapping them in a predetermined conclusion leaves no room for that.
I immediately and independently thought the exact same thing.
One that I find most annoying right now is “ghost guns”.
