Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has put sanctuary cities in the state on notice, promising to end their state funding if they do not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Youngkin made the announcement on Fox, where he spoke of legislation he put into motion last week that will require all local law enforcement to work with ICE and federal authorities concerning the deportation of criminal illegal immigrants.
"Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin: “I’m going to take your funding away here in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are not a sanctuary state.”"
After citing recent violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants in Virginia, he stated, “If you don't cooperate with ICE when there's a detainer in place, I'm going to go to work and take your funding away in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We are not a sanctuary state. We will not, we will no longer allow this to happen, and we're going to work together to make sure that we keep Virginians safe."

Thank you Glen.
Not just cities, the rot is way more in NoVa than just Alexandria, Fairfax City, Herndon and Falls Church. Do it to the counties, too, starting with Fairfax, Loudoun and Arlington. Fairfax County schools, for example, are sucking on the Federal tit from all the government employees here and its support for illegals. Cut it all off!
So soon. Wow.
Excellent. Hopefully others will follow.
I live in VA. What cities are sanctuary. It doesn’t say.
Why has he been funding them to start with and why is it only if they don’t coordinate with ice?
Asinine.

Thank you for your post.
I missed Youngkin announcement on Fox.
This is good news. When Youngkin was first elected, I was unsure about him. But overall, he has pleasantly surprised me. Well done, Youngkin.
I like it when Republicans play hardball with Democrats. We’re seeing more and more of it. Just watch Tom Homan, for example.

exactly zero
Although I found this:
“the commonwealth now tops the charts of states with the most sanctuary jurisdictions, according to the center’s map based on Immigration Customs and Enforcement’s “internal tracking of non-cooperative institutions.”
When you grab them by the wallet, their hearts and minds will follow.
But on second thought it seems to me that the residents of McLean probably have the same attitude toward wetbacks that the residents of Martha's Vineyard have.
ANY WORK INVOLVING DEPORTATION MUST BE ALL-ENCOMPASSING.
NO CHERRY-PICKING
Virginia should deport the criminal invaders itself. According to the 10A, deportation is a state matter not federal.
