A mayor of a township in Ontario, Canada, reportedly had his personal bank account garnished after he refused to pay a $5,000 fine after a tribunal ruled he had discriminated against an LGBTQ group.
On November 20, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario ruled that the township of Emo and its mayor, Harold McQuaker, 77, had discriminated against an LGBTQ group, under the Ontario Human Rights Code, by denying its request to proclaim June as Pride Month. Borderland Pride had requested Emo make the Pride Month declaration and requested the township fly a "LGBTQ2" flag, despite Emo not having an official flag pole.
McQuaker was further found to have violated the human rights code by making a "discriminatory remark" during the town's council meeting about the flag request, saying that there was no flag for the "other side of the coin… for straight people."

Can you imagine having to interact with the person who made the decision to charge this mayor and then garnish his bank account? They must be he!! to live with.
Given that some drivers have already been charged with a felony just for making skid-marks when driving on pride-flag painted crosswalks, I figure the U.S. isn't far behind in this type of action.
“Ontario mayor reportedly has bank account garnished after fined for refusing to celebrate Pride month”
And the ONLY REASON that hasn’t happened here yet, on a large scale, is because the Democrats still do not control the Courts. Please think about that before sitting out the next election because your anger at the RINOs consumes you so much that you don’t really care if that crap starts here, only that you ‘taught that RINO a lesson’.
The correct word is garner.

"Garner" is more of an agricultural/culinary term - comes from an old term for a granary.

Sounds like what we said about the Soviets during my childhood. They collapsed and went away, and marxism moved to the West - first universities, then arts and media, and then government and then everything else.
Garner is to collect it’s true but the correct term for what they tried was Garnishment.
Garnish and garnishment are the correct legal terms.

1. Garnish: to obtain a court order directing a party holding funds (example: bank), or entity (employer) who is soon to pay wages to an alleged debtor, to set aside those funds to be used to settle a debt.
Bank account garnishment is a legal process that allows a creditor to access and remove funds from a debtor’s bank account to pay off a debt. Wage garnishment allows an employer to withhold wages due to be paid to an employee in order to satisfy a debt.
2. Garnish: decorate or embellish (something, especially food).
No need to rant - no parsley sprigs were harmed by this. The same cannot be said for the mayor’s bank balance, though.
