The cold-blooded murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has produced some ugly reactions.
Liberal politicians and commentators seized upon Thompson’s murder as an excuse to complain about insurance companies. But their outrage should be directed at the federal government, says Seamus Bruner on the most recent episode of The Drill Down.
As an example of the ugly reaction, progressive Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) declared, “The visceral response from people across this country who feel cheated, ripped off, and threatened by the vile practices of their insurance companies should be a warning to everyone in the health care system.”

Canada also doesn’t pay high costs for prescription drugs, because American’s bear that load for the companies, to make them profitable.
You should look into the “rest of the story” about Canada’s health insurance before deciding anything.
Don’t like 0bamacare they/them leftist? You probably voted for this.
Funny that the media doesn’t call our health insurance “Obamacare” anymore.
Wow
The only problem with Obamacare, is that not enough people are enrolled in it. Every last Non Military PUBLIC EMPLOYEE should be mandated to enroll in Obamacare and pay for it themselves. Then it will work as advertised.
I get my blood thinners fron Canada, $170 for 3 months
CVS... here in the USA is $500 for 1 month.
What a difference
I love Obamacare. Let a government option be available. Everyone can now select their own healthcare plans. The providers will have to compete for our business. A lot of good opportunities for both customer and provider. But the sanctity cannot be compromised. Collusion and corruption is punishable by life imprisonment. (Being generous. It’s Christmastime! )
Thing though about Obamacare. 8 million people were thrown off their healthcare plans and 6 million moved to Obamacare. The headline, “ Obamacare has enrolled 6 millions into Obamacare!” Never mentions the 8 million tossed.
They wont pay for the care .
They stick them with the bill and cut off their coverage in Canada .
For example, There is only one MRI machine in all of Alberta .
Millions have to wait in line .
They used to sneak over to Montana to get those tests but because of nightmare Obamacare and all those mandated electronic health records
can be discovered by the evil Canada insurance nazis many got scared off .
You have to be very secretive and pay cash and use a US connection to avoid them .
They are evil .
For millions of Americans their vehicles sit in their garages 90+ percent of the time. Off the shelf old technology can transmit/log information/data when the vehicle starts and moves, location, speed etc...
Why are millions paying these giant insurance companies big car insurance payments when their vehicles sit in their garages 90+ percent of the time?
The first (and supremely ironic) result of the murder of Brian Thompson will be that insurance and healthcare CEOs will demand an increase in pay because of the risk.
No mention of the 3 week wait for an ER visit :)
Economic reality - if you fix prices you get rationing.
If hamburgers were free, they would run out quickly when everyone shows up to get one. So everyone gets a small bit instead.
The question is WHY can government mandate purchasing automobile insurance. You can be imprisoned for not having it in the wrong circumstances. Shouldn’t auto insurance be voluntary for all? You buy it, you are covered. If you don’t have it, and a covered person gets in a wreck with you, and it is the covered persons fault, then the non-insured is covered. Otherwise, if say I don’t have insurance, I am out my car and damages.
Canadian friends tell me - if you break your leg skiing, yes, you can get it fixed at Canadian hospital. The hospital may be crowded, but it will sooner-or-later get done. All for free
On the other hand, If you have cancer, need specialized drugs, need an MRI, or need to see a specialist - forget it. Your first appointment will be 6-9 months away. Many people simply die waiting. Also, elderly care is a huge issue. Government very much prefers a person needing treatment in their elderly years to simply die.
medical tourism is a big deal for Canadians. Often, they will go to US border clinics to get such work done.
Trump and the US Congress also need to allow Americans to "opt out" and allow an all-cash, direct-consumer-to-doctor, no Gov't system to develop along with our bloated Obamacare one.
Canadian health care is about as good as Cuba. It’s a socialist myth. Health care is rationed. Canadians have to go out of network to get critical care.
