President-elect Donald Trump is refusing to accept the presidential salary again — just as he did in his first term — he told NBC’S Kristen Welker.
When asked if he was planning to take the presidential salary, Trump said, “I’m not going to accept a salary, no.”
“I’m giving up a lot of money. You know? You know, it amazed me that, and maybe this isn’t right, but other than George Washington — and they’re not sure about that — every President has accepted their salary, except me,” Trump said.
Welker then asked if Trump accepted the pension, to which the President-elect said, “I don’t think I accepted anything.”
“The President gets about $450,000 a year, and I didn’t take it,” he said, adding, “By the way, I got no credit for that. That’s ok.”
“Well, I am asking you about it for that reason, and I think it’s notable, you’re not going to accept a salary,” Welker responded.
“I didn’t, and I’m not going to, and I don’t believe I got any credit for that, but I just feel — it’s, for me, it’s a nice thing to do,” Trump said, expressing surprise that other presidents have not done that.
“I was surprised, not one president has done that. I would have assumed Roosevelt would not accept the salary or Kennedy — you know, the Kennedy family is rich,” he added.
WATCH:
Trump also declined the presidential salary in his first term, giving it away quarterly to various agencies.
In 2017, Trump donated his quarterly salaries to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Health and Human Services, Department of Transportation, and the Education Department, as Breitbart News reported.

May God Bless Him.
Absolutely.
💯 Donald Trump is demonstrating leadership unmatched on the world stage. I urge him to double his security detail immediately.
Trump gave up EVERYTHING for us.
He should accept it, but with the money redirected towards a charity, such as T2T or Wounded Warriors.
Or BLM. Joking, but, it would be interesting to see if they would accept it.
I’d rather have AOC’s. Served 2 terms (and starting broke) at her salary and now be a multi-millionaire. Better return.
Trump accurately opines... “I didn’t get any credit”, referring to giving up his salary to the various agencies.
I believe one day there will be ONLY two clasess of presidents in the great pantheon of US Presidents. They are Washington, Lincoln and Trump in one CLASS all by their own and the other Class of the remaining “presidents” in descending order of overall regard by the American People with Carter, Obama, Clinton and Biden at the very bottom.
Clinton deserves to be within one click of the worst because of Epstein Island and the rape he bought and paid for to the tune of $900,000.00.
Isn’t that proof that his only motivation is the betterment of the country?
At his age he could easily just play golf and ride on Easy Street until his dying day. But he doesn’t - even with two assassination attempts.
I’d put Reagan on that list.
You can be sure Biden grabbed his.
Uparrow!
“He should accept it, but with the money redirected towards a charity, such as T2T or Wounded Warriors.”
Excellent idea. There are so many worthy charities that could do well with a donation of the size he’d make.
For me, the American Battlefield Trust comes to mind. Or any responsible group that deals with animal rescue and/or spaying/neutering.
The only president in modern times who become POORER for having served in office.
I’ve asked a couple of TDS sufferers how Donald donating or foregoing the presidential salary is somehow about his ego.
No answers.
Biden asked if he and Hunter could have it.
I was thinking that.
To give it away he had to accept it.
Which means not only did he give up the money, he had to pay taxes on it.
BTTT
but but... the left said he was only in this to enrich himself!
