The military base at Mihail Kogqlniceanu, Constanta, southeast Romania, on the Black Sea coast, will become the largest NATO military base in Europe and will surpass the US military base in Ramstein, Germany, in size.
The new base will give Romania an increased role in NATO’s security architecture and a position of greater strength in the Black Sea, which is militarily dominated by Russia. It will be able to host 10,000 soldiers and civilians by 2030.
NATO and the US will relocate some logistics and human resources from Ramstein to the Mihail Kogalniceanu base.
Expansion works will cost 2.7 billion US dollars and work on access roads and a high-capacity electrical network has already started. Romanian authorities have expropriated 2,400 hectares from the localities of Mihail Kogalniceanu and Lumina, paying 5,500 euros per hectare.

And the best part is this won’t cost the US taxpayer one red cent in extra taxes since the payments will all be kicked back to the DC swamp, so the money will stay right here.
I will say this about the Romanians- they helped the US in Kandahar, Afghanistan, immensely.
ONE, they were not a signatory to the Geneva Convention, so their motto was shoot first and ask questions later, which was the right protocol for being the primary defense force OUTSIDE the US wire, digging WW I style trenches EVERYWHERE between the base perimeter and the outer defensive line manned by the Afghan Forces.
They also built a beautiful all wooden church in the middle of their compound, and to me, THAT was a GIANT middle finger to islam (small i) <> spit <>.
They would go out the gates at night in their Russian hand me down BMP’s HOPING for an encounter with the Taliban.
They also LOVED American sliced white bread for some inexplicable reason. To a man, the Romanians would take a stack of sliced bread the size of half a loaf with them back to their table at every dinner meal.
I know that I am speaking to the choir here, but 2.7 billion dollars will EXPLODE into multiples of billions before this “adventure” is finished.
For every dollar spent in Romania, two dollars each should be pulled from any other European country that hosts a US base, starting with the least friendly, or the most woke. MAKE IT HURT!
