West should cooperate with Russia ‘for the sake of the universe’, Lavrov tells Tucker Carlson

The West should cooperate with Russia “for the sake of the universe” because the Kremlin will use “any means” to defend itself, the Russian foreign minister has said.

Sergey Lavrov made the warning in a 90-minute interview in Moscow with US talk show host Tucker Carlson that has been criticised as a gift for the Kremlin’s propaganda machine.

“They must understand that we would be ready to use any means not to allow them to succeed in what they call a strategic defeat of Russia,” Mr Lavrov said.

Mr Lavrov was talking two weeks after the Kremlin unveiled a new intermediate-range missile called the Oreshnik which it tested against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. Vladimir Putin has threatened to fire it at European cities in response to Western missiles being fired into Russia.

The number 1 strategic priority of the US must be Detente with Russia.

If we don't achieve this, no other national objective matters one whit.

“The number 1 strategic priority of the US must be Detente with Russia. “

Bottom line for me is that I don’t Biden, other Leftists, and enemies of Trump (RINOs) tell me which countries that I need to hate. I’m perfectly capable of weighing the facts and making my own call.

I believe that is already covered by the former Chicago mayor, that funny looking talking dog and John Fetterman.

Ending their open support of terrorist organizations and terrorist regimes, including those trying to assassinate our President, would probably help as well.

--- "....because the Kremlin will use 'any means' to defend itself, the Russian foreign minister has said."

I would hope that statement would be made by any representative of any nation around this world of ours. Especially our nation.

Alas, these last four years under Democrats have proven that almost no means to defend ourselves against almost unfettered migration have been taken. Rather, the inverse.

Where is an American Lavrov in this moment? January 20th cannot come too soon.

Amend the statement any way you like. My question was and remains: "Where is an American Lavrov in this moment? January 20th cannot come too soon."

It would make sense in a wonderfully Machiavellian way, as leverage to counter China, NOrk and Iran. Certainly we could find some commonality without legitimizing the baser Soviet aspects of Putin’s rule. After all, dems love Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba,China, etc.

I’m evenhanded. I hate them all, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus. The three Slavic bastard brothers.

That’s fair, I didn’t like the Soviets one bit during the Cold War, so I get that. My problem now is China and it seems rather stupid to me to toss Russia into China’s arms, when they wanted to at least be neutral, if not friendly, to the West.

Here is the entire interview -- 80 minutes -- of Lavrov by Carlson.

I watched all of it.
In it, Carlson is 100% respectful and fully accepts every lie and propaganda point that Lavrov tells him.

Lavrov repeats much of the Russian propaganda we see posted here on Free Republic every day.
Some of it is even true, but the key points -- i.e., "2014 coup", "legitimate referendum", "annexation" -- are not.

And, of course, Carlson just laps it all up.

Carlson is such a good puppy... good boy, Tucker!

I think that means increasing political and economic isolation of Russia.
Making US energy independent and a net exporter
Reducing reliance on adversaries like China for trade involving critical components for infrastructure and defense.
Overall growing US economy
Increasing EU defense spending is an absolute must. They spend less than 2% of budgets on military.
Streamlining US military elimination of waste- environmental and DEI initiatives with emphasis on readiness for war.
Intensify asymmetrical war program against Russia and satellites.

Exactly right. Russia invades Ukraine then invokes its right to “defend itself”?

To be… or Thermonuclear war. Even if the specter of thermonuclear war disappeared, I don’t get why the US requires an antagonist relationship with the people of Russia. Putin……well that’s a different matter. He needs to stop invading his neighbors. I am antagonistic to the old KGB and its tactics.

Well, there is no reason the the US should be in conflict with Russia. Except for Russia’s support for people who want to kill us. And their attempts to undermine us. How about knocking that shyt off and then we’ll talk?

No surprise— the Russians are perhaps losing their client state given to them by Jimmah Cahtah, just before Ronald Reagan could have (with difficulty due to the embeds from Carters clowns still in office) rescued the Shah. Khomeini was empowered and aided by Cahtah. Incidentally, wonder why this a@@hole hasn’t died already— world history made in surviving in hospice.
