The proposals by three key advisers, including Trump's incoming Russia-Ukraine envoy, retired Army Lieutenant-General Keith Kellogg, share some elements, including taking NATO membership for Ukraine off the table.
Trump's advisers would try forcing Moscow and Kyiv into negotiations with carrots and sticks, including halting military aid to Kyiv unless it agrees to talk but boosting assistance if the Russian President refuses.
When asked about his view of Donald Trump, who is set to return to the White House next month, Lavrov described him as 'a very strong person, a person who wants results, who doesn't like procrastination on anything.'
But he dismissed the idea that Trump is in any way 'pro-Russian', saying that the Kremlin will wait to examine the president-elect's attitude toward Russia and the Ukraine conflict.
'He's very friendly in discussions but this does not mean that he's pro-Russian as some people try to present him. The amount of sanctions we received under him was very very big.
'As Putin said, we have been open all along with contacts, with the current administration... we hope that when Donald Trump is inaugurated we will understand.
'The ball, as Putin said, is on their side.'

Why not draw the demilitarized zone on the other side of the river?
That would just add another element of water rights to the equation.
If you look north you see the river on the Other side. Perhaps seen as a fair division.
Cute, but Kellogg won’t get anywhere with that plan. I guess the Russians will have to ‘educate’ him a bit on that.
There is NO known “Trump plan”.
Yet you post as if there is...
I seriously doubt that Russia is going to accept foreign troops in Ukraine as part of a peace deal.
Any “solution” that calls for foreign troops in Ukraine will only ensure Russia keeps fighting.
Without a doubt getting Putin and Zelensky to the table for discussion is the first hurdle. So far Zelensky is unwilling to forfeit any land....and Putin is set on having the buffer zone which he currently has under his control.
You might want to take that up with the Daily Mail then. Who are not alone in presenting this possibility. It’s been tossed aroud for some time.
“Any “solution” that calls for foreign troops in Ukraine will only ensure Russia keeps fighting.”
More like any ‘solution’ that requires a ‘promise’ from Western countries is Dead-on-Arrival. As I’ve noted before, the ONLY way this war stops is if the West takes some CONCRETE ACTION, such as pulling NATO completely out of Europe. The West has completely exhausted any credibility regarding promises to Russia, and that will not change with Trump taking office.
Of course Putin could very well still protect his border with his own troops. But having Uk and Germany or other EU nations would give Zelesky the security he’s alwaye clamoring for that he cannot give his nation.
... and in a single post, by the usage of Trump with ‘peace plan’ denigrating our President-elect, the Z brigade re-affirms that they’re Democrats.
“proposals by three key advisers, including Trump’s incoming Russia-Ukraine envoy, retired Army Lieutenant-General Keith Kellogg, share some elements, including taking NATO membership for Ukraine off the table.”
Soooo....NATO is off the table. But we will bring them in 20 years from now. But we want you to stop shooting so we will flood the area with British, French, Polish and other NATO troops. We will busily rearm rump Ukraine, and give them security assurances.... but until 20 years out, don’t call it NATO. Oh yeah, we will not end sanctions and return hundreds of billions the gold and currency we confiscated.
Strong negotiating position there. /s
A checkers proposal against a nation that loves chess.
It still, as always, boils down to if the EU or the US controls/influences Ukraine the most. Both want pieces of that pie currently.
The goal is no NATO membership for Ukraine.
Our offer? Fill Ukraine with NATO troops lead by Brits. Give Ukraine security agreements. Start 20 year process to bring Ukraine into NATO.
The DC/London axis hasn’t changed their war aims a bit.
Bottom line? DC and London are running out of weapons and cash, and the people at home are getting the finger from their own governments. The Ukes are doing worse by the day. So we badly need a breather. We are the desperate ones who NEED the deal. Trump will know that is a poor negotiating position. But if offers anything to sweeten the deal, like removing sanctions, or demanding Ukraine end the nazi party or hold elections... he’ll be a “Russian stooge”.
It’s quite a pickle.
First off do not take any reporter or news sources word on what Lavrov said or what his intent was when speaking. Do your own research first and then read the BS MSM press releases.
Anyone who is emotionally invested in this interview owes it to themself with their pro-Ukrainian/Bidn bias or anti-Russian bias to watch and listen.
Anyone who does not support Biden’s Project Ukraine or does not support Ukraine must also listen to what Lavrov said.
If you just listen to your version of MSNBC or FOX then you will never understand an issue or topic - if your MSM is telling you something you damn sure know they are not giving both sides of the issue and they have an agenda.
Having said this. I watched the Lavrov interview. I am retired foreign service. I know what he said and what the intent of his words were.
Lavrov is the most skillful politician in the world today. He is a consumate professional. He is not someone appointed for running a political campaign or a senator who you don’t trust in the Senate.
Well I would’nt and don’t look at it that way. Trump undertands there needs to be a starting point and that’s to present a plan... since it’s obvioue both Putin and Zelensky have presented theirs and both refused those.
Bottom line is Ukrains boundaries will not go back to what they were.
Watched the entire interview. The Rushki is spewing bullsh!t about 1/3rd of the time but at least half of what he says is pretty dead on. Worth a watch for sure.
Cuz Russia occupies it. Ukraine will fortify and maintain the demilitarized zone to counter any Russian aggression.
