Musk meets with Thune at the Capitol
The Hill ^ | 12/05/2024 | Alexander Bolton

Elon Musk, the co-head of President-elect Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency, met with incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) Thursday morning ahead of meetings later in the day with Senate and House Republicans.

Musk walked into Thune’s office with one of his children perched atop his shoulders.

“I think we should be spending the public’s money wisely,” he told reporters while walking through the Capitol’s hallways.

Musk has said he wants to cut at least $2 trillion from the federal budget, which now exceeds $6 trillion a year. But any proposed cuts would likely face substantial opposition in Congress as just about every federal program has a constituency that benefits from it.

Some people are wondering if Musk is more powerful than Vance. He is certainly more visible.

I’m sure Musk is telling all of these rino sell outs “I’ve got unlimited funds to primary you if you don’t get with the MAGA”

I bet they discussed targeted cost savings and how painful it will be if Hegseth isn’t confirmed. And, in general, how important it is for the Senate to give President Trump what he wants.

Sen. Joni Ernst is active in this effort as well. She pointed out yesterday that the taxpayers have funded such essential “scientific” studies such as whether drinking water out of the toilet tastes the same as bottled water, how fast a shrimp can run on a treadmill, how long it takes a panda to poop and where on the body a bee sting hurts the most.

"wants to cut at least $2 trillion from the federal budget, which now exceeds $6 trillion a year."

That would merely take us back to 2019 spending. Simply ending Covid spend should wipe out $2 trillion.

He is certainly more visible.

They are keeping Vance out of sight on purpose.

Eliminate Dept of Education, slash UN spending, privatize PBS, eliminate FIB, give USAID 10% of budget, NIH 10%. Staff reduction entire gov by 50%. Move 75% of DC jobs to other states in western or central US - Bebraska, South Dakota, etc.

If the voters do not remain engaged with lawmakers it won’t happen. Media is gone. Forget caring about what they say.

I remember times the WH and Congressional phones were down because so many constituents were calling.

He’s more visible because he owns one of the biggest social media platforms on the face of the earth.

He’s also more of a lightning rod. The gnashing of teeth by liberals about him in my area (Westchester, NY) is wonderful!!!

I am quite concerned that Vance seems to be the forgotten man and is, indeed, invisible while Musk acts like the VP-elect.

Going to be a lot of D.C. high end hookers moaning unless the D.C. hacks have to pay them with their own money and the the tax payers.

Small potatoes. I don't trust Ernst.
