Russia’s widespread overnight attack targeting critical energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine was a response to strikes on Russian territory using US-made ATACMS missiles, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.
Putin claimed Russia hit 17 targets that were “military facilities, defense industry facilities and their support systems,” without acknowledging the hits to power infrastructure. “As I have said many times, there will always be a response from our side (to the use of American ATACMS),” Putin said during comments made at a security summit in Kazakhstan.
Air defenses were activated across the country, with damage reported in 14 regions, according to the Interior Ministry. In the capital Kyiv, residents took shelter in metro stations as the air raid alert lasted for more than nine hours, due to the combined missile and drone attack. There were no immediate reports of casualties there, authorities said.

In his comments on Thursday, Putin warned that he will consider further launches of Russia’s new medium-range ballistic missile, called ‘Oreshnik,’ which was used to attack Ukraine’s Dnipro region last week.
“We will respond to the ongoing strikes on Russian territory by Western-made long-range missiles, including the possible continuation of the Oreshnik test in combat conditions,” Putin said.

The idea that an attack, is a “response” to some action by the other side implies that attack would not have taken place except for that “action.” Depending on the time frame that “response” was one of dozens or hundreds or thousands of attacks. Is it realistic to think, gosh, if not for that “action” this one attack would not have taken place?
There was a Doonesbury cartoon where someone is talking to a Muslim about the Jihad. He says to the Muslim, are you up to date on your acts of vengeance. The Muslim says, no, we’re in the mid thirteen hundreds.

Either way, Russia has far more missiles at a far cheaper price than that of the West.
To: McGruff
A response to an attack begets another response, which begets further responses, and so on and so forth.
Where the insanity stops, the insane don’t know.
But, let’s continue with the insanity. Insanity can lead to a bold new world, with no weapons of mass destruction anymore, since all of them will have been used up.

And you know that, how?
Everything Russia produces comes at a very high price to them, especially with their economy in shambles. The war has depleted their resources for building weapons, including their new and shiny hypersonic missile. They man have built one of a few, but those are sepensive and the technology that drives and guides them comes from externals sources, and those sources will dry up once Trump takes over the presidency.
A country that has to buy ammunition from other countries and that has to import their drones and even soldiers, is a country that's hurting. Which is why they're having to desperately use their hypersonic missiles and nuclear threat.
Desperate people do desperate things.

Desperate people do desperate things. I hope whoever is making the decisions for Joe Biden will keep this in mind.
With a straight face, we applaud JFK for defending US interests during the Cuban missile crisis and we criticize Putin for daring to consider his own country's interests as Uncle Schmoe sticks his nose into his neighborhood.

So that means that he says Ukraine can attack Muscowy’s electricity grid...

The problem is that the Muscowites are still stuck in their imperialist dream and they haven’t had their humbling moment as the Germans and Japanese had in 1945

Ukraine is hurting no doubt - it was the target of Muscowy’s attack.
But the attacker is also badly hurt - Muscowy has to buy ammunition from other countries and that has to import their drones and even soldiers.

Putin for daring to consider his own country's interests Putin's main goal with Ukraine is to make it come back into the fold with Russia. Defense of his country is a complete lie, since NOBODY was threatening Russia. Border-wise, Russia will always have some NATO country along it's border. So, protecting its border is bunk, and keeping NATO missiles and NATO forces far away, is also bunk. NATO will always be close by, even it thousands of miles away.

Remember when simple, less effective Russian tanks destroyed the more advanced German Army? I do.
To: mac_truck
In a nutshell, that's Ukraine.
Yet, Ukraine is not the invader, and Ukraine was not known as weapons manufacturer of any major importance. Whereas, Russia is the aggressor and invader, and is know as a large military machine and as a large weapons manufacturer and weapons exporter. That Russia has had to seek help from outside the country, says a lot about how desperate their situation has become.
In a nutshell, your comparison is without merit.

You must be at least 100 years old. ;)
But, the Russian tanks are useless in Ukraine, no matter if they're old or new. And, whatever new weapon Russia uses, they cannot force Ukraine to become part of Russia or a territory of Russia. Whatever happens, even if Ukraine is conquered, Russia will always have guerrilla warfare on their hands. Russia learned that lesson in Afghanistan, and they still have people in Chechnya and other places who want the Russians out.

Remember when NATO said that Russia was just ‘a gas station with nukes?” I do.
Remember when they said that the Russian’s 10 to 1 advantage in artillery meant nothing in the western way of war? I do.
Remember when they told us Biden was the sharpest man ever? I do.

Same old same old from Pukin’ Putin. He should die soon, along with the Iranian Mullahs who stink up the Middle East. Same as Pukin’ stinks up all of Europe. Why?
Because he is an insane paranoid pos. (Happy Thanksgiving)

You're late to the game.
I already posted my response to that 'hard logic', which is no logic at all. It was a simple statement and not some hard logic. But, you can't tell the difference.
