Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., has voiced strong opposition to using the U.S. military to enforce deportation measures, emphasizing that immigration enforcement should remain the responsibility of domestic law enforcement agencies on Newsmax Tuesday.
Paul, a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, criticized the idea of deploying the military to enforce immigration policies, calling it a "terrible image" for the United States.
In an interview on "Rob Schmitt Tonight," Paul addressed reports that President-elect Donald Trump or his spokesman suggested declaring an emergency to involve the military in deportation efforts.

We, as conservatives who are supportive of Trump, need to caution him about sending the army into our cities. It's a terrible image to send the world, and it's a terrible image for us as citizens. https://t.co/xZEvIhjeJB— Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 20, 2024
Use the military and stop being a bitch.
The democrats made it SO BAD you’ll need the Military
Love you Rand, but you are wrong on this one.
He has a point...
Tough, Biden likely used the military to IMPORT these beasts, so it’s fine with me to use our military in the correct way, which is to EXPORT these beasts.
This statement is not aging well
Rand,
this is not a time to let your balls ascend.
If we were invaded, we’d use the military. How is this different?
Homan said they would be used for transportation, not policing. So much ado about nothing. They also should be on the border.
What about ICE and the National Guard?
He’s worried about ‘optics’ not the fact that we’ve been invaded.
Would “military” in this context include Natl. Guard?
I could absolutely see using NG as a support for LE doing this.
Just use the military against those who entered illegally.
I really believe most will self deport if welfare and jobs dry up. If you can’t get a bank account or a loan or etc.
10 million illegals is a disaster. In Florida we mobilize the guard and reserve for disaster relief.
Yes, he does.
If the military is needed temporarily to defend/secure the border, that's fine. Part of their legitimate role. But going house to house to roust out illegals and ship them home...no. Let ICE do that. And hire more ICE agents if you need them.
Troops aren't trained for that. They're trained to kill people and break things.
Rand wrong on this one.
Rwanda would be a good ‘holding facility’ location.
Once word got out that’s where they’ll be released, they’ll self deport.
Canada said they don’t want more immigrants - after realizing they’d be the next destination post 1/6/25.
Cut off their benefits and they will leave on their own. Arrest employers that hire them. No need for military intervention. Offer transportation home if they want it. Cheaper in the long run.
Nobody have a problem using the army to bring them in. Usually he’s on top of things, but in this case Trump serve the military is only being used for transportation, chow halls. Etc as they are processed out… not going to make arrests.
Using our military to protect the sovereignty of the United States is exactly why we have a military.
