Top Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday that strongman Vladimir Putin is “ready for talks” to end the Ukraine war with American President-elect Donald Trump.
Peskov was responding to questions about a report published by Reuters on Wednesday citing anonymous officials, claiming that Putin may be open to ending the ongoing invasion of Ukraine if Russia can keep control of much of the territory he has seized from the anonymous sources claimed that Putin “could broadly agree to freeze the conflict along the front lines.”
Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014, “annexing” its Crimean peninsula. After a period of peace during the four years that Trump was in the White House, Putin again invaded Ukraine in February 2022 after outgoing President Joe Biden lifted sanctions on the lucrative Nord Stream 2 pipeline that would have dramatically increased Russian fossil fuel sales to Western Europe. In September of that year, Putin “annexed” four more regions of Ukraine: Luhansk and Donetsk, the Donbas regions; Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia.

Putin’s “talks” = surrender, just like Hitler
Will Pres. Trump be Neville Chamberlain?
Idiot msm
Both are strongmen
World War III has been postponed.
It’s a long way to January 20.
You see, Putin is getting ready to surrender to Trump!
(said zeepers everywhere)
“Will Pres. Trump be Neville Chamberlain?”
Are you EVER going to graduate from Grade School?
It’s a fair question, given the hostility of some of Trump’s team towards Ukraine
Donald Trump Jr. is a good example
Shut it, foreign troll.
Go back to Canada.
Your Mistress Chrystia's jackboots need a tongue-polishing.
I tell you what would really piss off the Leftists:
1. War ends with Russia keeping the 5 territories, Ukraine getting rid of their Nazis, limiting their military size, and of course no NATO or EU (since the EU is effectively a wing of NATO). The usual stuff.
2. But here’s the rub, how can Putin trust the West with the above, given the horrific track record of the West in keeping promises: Trump agrees to pull out of NATO and hand over our bases in Europe to the Europeans...no more US troops in Europe.
3. If the US re-emerges in NATO or the US starts sending in troops again to Europe (under any pretext), then the deal is violated, and Russia is free to fight again in Ukraine, should they choose to do so.
From Trump’s perspective, it’s great - he ends a horrific war that the Democrats started and he gets his dream of pulling the US out of Europe. For future presidents, they have to think very hard before violating the treaty, as violations will be very easy to detect and may result in unhappy endings for them (yet again).
Maybe DJT should put Zelenskyy on notice that if he escalates with the weapons taterhead gave him he’ll be without US support come Jan. 20
“It’s a fair question, given the hostility of some of Trump’s team towards Ukraine”
Considering that the Ukrainians IMPEACHED Trump and tried to overthrow him, it’s probably smart for Zelensky to not expect to see his portrait hanging much longer in the Oval Office.
That’s why Putin isn’t going to be nuking anything. He’ll get 95% of what he wants at the table.
I will accept whatever decisions are made by President Trump.
It will be difficult enough to convince Russia to end the war.
Whether Ukraine realizes it or not, they need the war to end so they can rebuild and get their population back.
Unfortunately, the new Ukrainian armored forces were not successful in making gains, and at this point the likelihood of significant Ukrainian advance is minimal.
Trump is correct the war needs to end. Russia is not being rewarded because they suffered enormous losses for years, and they are left with a hostile independent Ukraine.
Without an option for victory, neither side has an upside to this war continuing.
But not before Russia takes out Kyiv (or however you spell it) for firing the US & UK made missiles into Russia.
You are a lunatic of course, BUT the Ukrainians are equally delusional in their opposition to Trump and their embrace of the democrats who got them invaded, twice.
So actually we are agreeing. I would see Ukraine sink into the sea before I’d allow any damage to Trump.
But I wish Ukraine well, and doubt Trump will turn on them. It’s not his style to show Putin any weakness.
Excellent suggestion! Are you reading this, President Trump?
Good God, such a child, you are!
