Trump chooses Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday tapped Dr. Mehmet Oz, a former television talk show host and heart surgeon, to head the agency that oversees health insurance programs for millions of older, poor and disabled Americans.

“Dr. Oz will be a leader in incentivizing Disease Prevention, so we get the best results in the World for every dollar we spend on Healthcare in our Great Country,” Trump said in a statement. “He will also cut waste and fraud within our Country’s most expensive Government Agency, which is a third of our Nation’s Healthcare spend, and a quarter of our entire National Budget.”

Oz, who ran a failed 2022 bid to represent Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate, has been an outspoken support of Trump and in recent days expressed support for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination for the nation’s top health agency, the Department of Health and Human Services.

As the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Oz would report to Kennedy. If confirmed by the Senate, Oz would be responsible for the programs — Medicaid, Medicare and the Affordable Care Act — that more than half the country relies on for health insurance.

Medicaid provides nearly-free health care coverage to millions of the poorest children and adults in the U.S. while Medicare gives older Americans and the disabled access to health insurance. The Affordable Care Act is the Obama-era program that offers health insurance plans to millions of Americans who do not qualify for government-assisted health insurance, but do not get insurance through their employer.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.

EXCERPT:

Oz has been accused of hawking dubious medical treatments and products on his defunct TV show. And during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he pressured government officials to make hydroxychloroquine widely available, despite unresolved questions about its safety and effectiveness.

1) Obtain a list of all beneficiaries of government welfare programs from each state including the social security number.
2) Normalize the data then find all the duplicates.
3) Cease payments to any duplicates pending review.
4) Take the entire database and underwrite the requirements to receive benefits. This means to analyze each beneficiary to see if they own assets that disqualify them. IE: They have vehicles or other disqualifying assets they are making a note on, have a business they are running, etc.

There is massive fraud that could be discovered by simply analyzing data and doing so would cost about what the federal government spends in 10 to 15 seconds every day.

I was involved in looking at welfare related fraud during the Clinton years. We found out that some people would receive money for various things in Florida, Texas NY and CA and checks would be sent to Matamoros because at that time they did not check for such things. The government agencies have zero incentive to ferret out the fraud. In fact, they have a bigger incentive to pay out more money because the more they pay out this year the more their budgets will be increased next year.

I built a very simple system to check for various assets from public records and when the person had such assets, they could not receive certain benefits because they did not qualify. When I started this, I would go in to very large DHS buildings that were full of people waiting to get stuff from the government. After a few months those same buildings that had a couple of hundred people waiting were basically empty. The people moved to other areas where the program was not in place. The program worked so well I got fired after about 8 months.

I hope Elon Musk gets the power to make these government agencies cough up data. The people who work in this country are going to be shocked when they find out how much money has been stolen.

We had a few of those at the hospital where I worked.

MDs usually think they are the smartest guys in the room—no matter the subject. Stick an MBA on that, and you are just better off not inviting them to the meeting. They can be insufferable.

“he pressured government officials to make hydroxychloroquine widely available”

I did not know that. I think better of him now. There were two early studies of hydroxychloroquine and Covid that showed it highly effective in patients who weren't on ventilators. The press promoted those studies because the abstracts were highly deceptive about the research results.

I like Dr. You. He presents himself as professional and believable. I thought he would be Surgeon General, since Dr.Ben Carson does not want that spot.

The Turkish citizen Oz.

1) Oz grew up in a mixed Muslim environment where his father’s family practiced more traditional Islam, while his mother’s family were more secular Muslims. As a child, he spent summers in Turkey and served in the Turkish Army for 60 days after college to maintain his dual citizenship.

2)
Mehmet Oz’s Explanation of Why He Kept Turkish Citizenship Makes No Sense
By Michael Rubin

Washington Examiner

May 09, 2022

“Oz’s ties to Turkey are not simply a matter of birth. He served in the Turkish military and voted in a recent Turkish election, reportedly just days after failing to do so in the United States. His fawning interaction with Turkey’s mercurial and profoundly anti-American dictator Recep Tayyip Erdogan is cringeworthy : It came and comes against the backdrop of the imprisonment of thousands in Turkey, Erdogan’s crackdown on religious freedom, and the taking of Andrew Brunson, an American pastor, as a political hostage.”

Weird - I was just thinking about Dr. Oz last night and his unsuccessful bid (against Fetterman, was it?)

It was one of the rare times I was rooting for an Oprah creation.

I DID like that Dr. Oz PUBLICLY STATED that “one-size fits all COVID-19(84)” jabs were illogical - because they most certainly were/are/always will be

The first thing Dr. Mehmet Oz needs to look at is how much money the Government is paying insurance companies to offer 'medicare advantage' programs. It's one of those 'trade' type agreements Trump talks about where Trump says either the person was stupid or corrupt because the deal was that bad.

Medicare Advantage Companies are paid $100,000 PER SENIOR PER YEAR for 'care'. What they don't spend on the 'mark' they pocket. Incentives from hell.

Check it out OZ.,

I wish that purchasing Medicare was an option instead of a mandate.

I am not looking forward to turning 65 and being forced to “buy” something I do not need or want.

Medicare is another example of big government tyranny.
