Democrats in Race Against Time to Fill Dozens of Judicial Vacancies

As the clock ticks toward President-elect Donald Trump's second term, Democrats are racing to fill dozens of judicial vacancies across federal courts.

With just over two months to go until Trump becomes president, Senate Democrats are considering an aggressive effort in the next few weeks to confirm as many of President Biden's judicial appointments as possible during the lame-duck session. Republican control of both the White House and the Senate in January, would limit their ability to influence the federal judiciary.

Senator Elizabeth Warren is among the Democrats pushing the efforts.

"While still in charge of the Senate and the White House, we must do all we can to safeguard our democracy," wrote the Massachusetts Democrat in a Time magazine editorial. "Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer must use every minute of the end-of-year legislative session to confirm federal judges and key regulators—none of whom can be removed by the next president."

Schumer has filed for cloture to try to speed up two of President Biden's federal judge nominations, both of whom were nominated for federal trial courts in Illinois, according to Law.com. The Senate will likely vote on the two nominees next week.

"We are going to get as many done as we can," Schumer said in a statement, The New York Times reported......

If Republicans are united against a nominee, the defection of just two Democratic-aligned senators would be the end of the road. West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, an independent, has also warned previously he will not advance any nominees that only have one party's support.

They have until January 3 before seating the new senate, not only are there Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, the senate needs to take up Trump's Cabinet confirmation what will probably cause scheduling conflicts.

Since the D’s always pick mediocre folks, and given our joke law schools, we are assured of a constant supply, they should have no problem filling any vacancies. Folks in the STEM profession with such “abilities” are called “climate scientists”.

That always gets me confused. But the one that is alive and a senator of course. The one who backed Trump.

John Kennedy from LA, IIRC.

I tried looking him up and it appears he’s a republican.

But no place I checked said for sure.

My bad. I can’t keep track of all the Kennedy’s. All this time I thought the one in the senate and the one that just ran for president were one and the same. But they are not. So big revelation there.

The reason why the American Judicial System sucks. It’s biased as hell towards the left. They don’t work according to our laws and Constitution. They use the DNC playbook to make all of their decisions. They suck worse than any crew of hockey referees.

If we had a Republican senate with a set, they would slow everything to a crawl with endless quorum calls and voice votes of every single procedural motion and not allow democrats to get one thing done in the next month and half (more like three weeks with all the vacations in November and December).

But since the Republicans are spineless, it will never happen...

This is why there shouldn’t be three month delay in the new president being sworn in. This isn’t the 1800’s when we had to wait for the candidate’s horse and buggy to arrive...

Stonewall. It’s what they did to Trump 45. They could do recess appointments. The new Senate can then toss them out.
