History-making ski resort Ukraine’s gas station network OKKO Group says it’s planning to invest $1.5 billion in a new ski resort in western Ukraine in what could potentially be the country’s largest investment in history.

OKKO Group has said it started construction of the Goro Mountain Resort near Slavske — the company is putting $500 million into the resort and plans to attract an additional $1 bn from external investors.

The resort is set to open for skiing in the winter of 2026–2027, with plans for full completion by 2039, and is envisioned as a premium destination to rival Bukovel, Ukraine’s leading ski resort. The project was first announced eight years ago but was delayed. The resort will span 75 kilometers of ski slopes.

The construction is supported by a partnership with the Ukrainian government through its "investment nanny" initiative that provides expedited land allocation and tax exemptions to enhance the project’s viability.

My reaction as well. I thought this was a country engaged in a war for its very existence, and resources are going to this kind of thing? Someone has a very clear vision of what the future of Ukraine will be, and it’s not one in which the nation has any lack of pastimes for the wealthy...

This was always a war to drain US and allied resources. I won’t be surprised if one day soon tensions between Ukraine and Russia just evaporate and the media goes completely silent as if it never happened.

Well, the BlackRock and other fat cat corporate execs and the contractors getting big checks and bonuses compliments of US taxpayers will need some R&R and a place to spend their money once the reconstruction spigot starts flowing. A ski resort sounds perfect.

Seriously, do they realize how their crowing about this does not set well with beleaguered American taxpayers? taxpayers trying to figure out how to afford groceries and moved to tears seeing our homeless veterans reduced to living in on sidewalks?

Obla dee Obla da life goes on BRAH la la la la life goes on.

We don’t have no steenkin war, it is US forces pretending to be NATO, and the Ukes are the cannon fodder.

One thing the Americans are good at is sending young boys into the grinder, ala Vietnam, Korea, Libya and Afghanistan. Hell, Veterans day weekend, and there are still POW’s left in SE Asia. You see, a Senator from AZ and President GHW Bushitter said so.

In case you think I am dogging on the servicemen who train, live and die for this country, I am not. My entire family served in one war or another, sans yours truly. I am talking about a lot of people. Grandma had 3 sons, 5 daughters. I have 33 first cousins. Two brothers who served, 20 first cousins who were in Korea or Vietnam. My brother was State leader of the POW-MIA group that pushed for return.

The only thing worse than war itself, is how we treat those who served, and were left behind. Citizens still in Afghanistan from Bidens “flee policy”.

“is how we treat those who served”

Note that we never had a Vietnam veteran as President, and the brutally injured veteran Sam Brown was defeated in Nevada yesterday by a sleazeball Made Girl of the Bugsy Siegel family for Senator.

But then we do have Rueben Marinelarena Gallegos, veteran of Iraq to look up to! Goberment by Mexican Cartelistas will soon be the norm not just in the Southwest by all America. Guess there’s that: maybe he can bring in some veterans of the drug wars...from the offending side.

Probably won’t hold up well against a Russian Icelander missile.

The smart money goes in early and buys everything cheap. I wonder how much a 100 acre dacha is worth on a lake near Poland.
