Muslim Americans Say Kamala Harris Embracing Liz Cheney Cost Her Election
Newsweek ^ | Nov 06, 2024 | Khaleda Rahman

Kamala Harris' embrace of former GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney contributed to her election loss to Donald Trump, according to an advocacy organization representing Muslim Americans.

Harris sought to utilize endorsements from Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, to court Republican voters who might have been uneasy about supporting Trump. Last month, she teamed up with Liz Cheney for events in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan.

That strategy proved unsuccessful as Trump triumphed after carrying all three of these "blue wall" states, which President Joe Biden won in 2020.

There had been concerns that Muslim and Arab American Democrats would abandon Harris over the Biden administration's unwavering support for Israel's war in Gaza, particularly in Michigan, which has the nation's biggest concentration of Arab Americans.

Harris' decision to campaign with Cheney further compounded the deep anger felt by these voters, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group.

Experts previously told Newsweek that Harris' support among Arab Americans and Muslims could be further eroded because of her teaming up with Cheney since Dick Cheney is loathed by many Arab Americans and the Muslim community, given his role in the Iraq War and shaping U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East.

Harris' drop in support, compared with Biden's in 2020, "resulted, in part, from the deep frustration and disillusionment that many young, Muslim, Arab, Black and other voters feel with the Biden-Harris administration due to its steadfast financial and military support for Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza," Nihad Awad, CAIR's national executive director, told Newsweek.

"The vice president's failure to lay out any plan to end that genocide, such as suspending weapons to Israel, combined with her refusal to let any Palestinian-American speak at the DNC...

Liz Cheney is hated by most people in both parties and any political persuasion.

It is stunning that the Harris campaign was so tone deaf they could not notice that.

They actually believed that so many Republicans hated Trump that they could cozy up to Cheney and win votes.

Despite massive propaganda that nearly Trump’s entire cabinet refused to endorse him, despite hiring actors to claim they voted twice for Trump and will now support Harris, and repeating Gen Miley calling Trump a threat (despite being a traitor), the GOP base does not hate Trump.

GOP politicians hate Trump. They know the gravy train they have been feeding off from the taxpayer trough is about to end. Trump’s people were not allowed to enrich themselves like Obama’s or Biden’s people.

Those are the only ones who do not like Trump and they are a tiny group.

This mismatch should have been clear from the start.
Yet another unforced blunder of Kamala’s campaign team.

The best thing about last night is Crazy Liz has been thrown to the curb by both parties.

Disagree. It was sticker shocks in grocery stores every few days. Americans are simply not used to relentlessly unaffordable prices for their usual food items.

She is a chickenhawk who promotes endless war. I used to like her dad and Donald Rumsfeld (and John Bolton as a UN rep). But I never believed in endless war, and this is what we got. I don’t believe in a job half done, and I don’t believe in a 20 year war. Donald Trump changed that. I though that the selection of Bolton was great, but we know that didn’t work out.

It’s all become topsy turvy. Libs used to have No War signs on their lawns. Now the signs are on the lawns of Constitutionalists, and the libs have signs that say “Fine. War!”

“”Biden administration’s unwavering support for Israel’s war in Gaza””

That lost me...”unwavering support” doesn’t fit the bill as I recall the criticism of the administration toward Bibi. Biden has had nothing but advice for Bibi on how to proceed and critical of any action that’s been taken. Thank goodness Bibi hasn’t listened to him. Guess no one cares about facts anymore!

Liz just wanted to do whatever she could to destroy Trump as a proxy for her father and the humiliated Bush family.

Why the Harris team thought that bringing a GOP traitor over to trash her own nominee was going to work is beyond anyone.

Liz’ committee failed. She failed. She’s a failure in the truest most sterling sense of the word.

Hey wait a minute!

Didn’t Cheney get at least 18% of the votes in her last election?

Oh, never mind....

“Trump triumphed after carrying all three of these “blue wall” states, which President Joe Biden won in 2020.”

Pretty obvious these three states were stolen in 2020 especially with the numbers coming in, they ought to be renamed the “Red Wall” and really piss off the left.

Most people won’t tolerate traitors. Cheney is a traitor. She is collecting political prisoners for the Government.
