The Kremlin reacted cautiously on Wednesday after Donald Trump was elected U.S. president, saying the U.S. was still a hostile state and that only time would tell if Trump's rhetoric on ending the Ukraine war translated into reality.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Trump had made some important statements about wanting to end the Ukraine war during his campaign, but only time would tell if they led to action.
"Let us not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country, which is both directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state" (in Ukraine)," Peskov told reporters.
Peskov said he was not aware of any plans by President Vladimir Putin to congratulate Trump on his victory and that relations with Washington were at an historic low.
"We have repeatedly said that the U.S. is able to contribute to the end of this conflict. This cannot be done overnight, but... the U.S. is capable of changing the trajectory of its foreign policy. Will this happen, and if so, how ... we will see after (the U.S. president's inauguration in) January."

You can always REMOVE YOUR ARMY FROM FOREIGN SOIL. You don't need anybody's permission to do so. Ending the war YOU STARTED is entirely on you.
Bless your heart, I am glad to see you supporting President Trump on HIS day!
The YouCrayne Grift Will Soon End.
Your ignorance is showing.
...which all started with the Maidan Revolution... due to our meddling in their own election process. I’m going to cut you some slack here, because I think you just don’t know. But you really should study what actually caused the conflict. Russia didn’t commit until Ukrainian citizens in the Donbass and Donetsk regions cried out for help... after more than a few years of being bombed, sniped, mined, and generally being treated like terrorists by their own government. Somehow though, the left has turned the conflict into something that we MUST WIN... otherwise it will be “end of democracy”. Blah... blah... blah... whatever.
I really do sort of hate to say this, because I’m a cold war veteran and we trained to go up against the Russians as a primary adversary. But Russia isn’t on the “wrong side” of this particular conflict.
BWAHAHAhahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
You're funny.
Neocons all be cryin’ their eyes out today. It is ok NorthMountain, let those tears flow and cleanse yourself.
“...”Let us not forget that we are talking about an unfriendly country, which is both directly and indirectly involved in a war against our state...”
The American people do not harbor any malice towards the Russians. We in the USA were stuck with an illegitimate Quisling regime. The trash was taken out yesterday and now the deep state globohomo’s will pay the price for what they did to Ukraine in 2014.
WW3 has been averted and in a few months time, those subversives in the Clinton/Obama/Biden axis of evil regime will be dealt with.
I don’t believe for a moment Trump will put up with Putin.
Putsin will be Putty. Trump will stick the pig economically
Oh, please! You need to take a step back. It started with Putin blackmailing Yanukovych to renege on the EU/Ukraine deal. The Maidan Revolution came from the outrage of the people; it was not a plot by the CIA.
due to our meddling in their own election process.
Yanukovych's successors were chosen in fair elections; no US meddling. It always amuses me how Russian propagandists try to portray Putin as a defender of Ukrainian democracy, he who has not had a fair election since he came to power.
Russia didn’t commit until Ukrainian citizens in the Donbass and Donetsk regions cried out for help...
What nonsense! Putin seized Donbas in 2014 through the use of local ethnic Russian surrogates. When the Ukrainian government was on the verge of restoring order, he then had to send in Russian personnel.
after more than a few years of being bombed, sniped, mined, and generally being treated like terrorists by their own government.
More BS! This supposed genocide against ethnic Russians in Donbas never happened. It is pure Russian propaganda.
Like you, I am a cold war veteran and I recognize Russian aggression. If this is about Russian security concerns then let Putin offer to withdraw in return for appropriate security guarantees. There is no need for him to seize Ukrainian land. But, of course, it is the land that he wants. Why else would he have turned down Zelensky's offer of no NATO? Russia is playing you for a fool. This is not a surrogate war against the NWO; it is an attempt to bring Ukraine back under Russian control.
Yes. It will end. You and Ukraine will be at the tables discussing the terms.
eff ukraine, I don’t wanna fund their war
Tell zel to stop beggink.
And there we have the heart of the matter. Putin publicly proclaimed his desire to recreate the Russian Empire, and his opinion that the collapse of the USSR was the greatest political disaster ever. Like with Biden and Harris (or their handlers): when people tell you what they want to do to you, it pays to listen and prepare accordingly.
So.... giving out cookies is provocation for Russian invasion?
And you wonder why you’re called Orcs.
It won’t be foreign own it’s sovereignty is restored.
There fixed it for you.
Trump is a businessman and Vad has proved to be quite the astute businessman and statesman. They much in common. Both are at war with the Democrats & RINOs.
The true value of the Nuland Cookies Story is hidden by her showing up to pass water and food. The US used the same tactics they used in the 2020 Summer of Love Riots across Amerika; we provided all the food, water and accommodations people needed thru our NGOs so that the crowds could stay in protest. Nuland was gas-lighting the Kremlin with the moxy she was told to muster by passing out the “cookies story” which is simply cover for our supplying the protestor rent-a-mob.
We are attempting to do the same thing in several countries right now, again. Georgia and few other small countries are seeing pallots of water and food show up in the protest areas, and they hoping to get the people to stay long enough for them to start the actual trouble like attacking directly the actual politicians or blowing stuff up to dimish the actually elected governments we disagree with.
