The “appalled” Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has demanded a direct apology from Donald Trump over comments made about the island territory by a comedian and podcaster at the former president’s Madison Square Garden rally on Sunday.
Roberto Octavio González Nieves posted an open letter to Trump describing his shock and anger after hearing the comments made by Tony Hinchcliffe on stage.
The letter was posted in both English and Spanish.
“There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” Hinchcliffe said Sunday to an unimpressed crowd. He also joked about Black people carving watermelons instead of pumpkins for Halloween.
The Trump campaign immediately distanced itself in a statement to The Washington Post, saying, “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign.”
But for the Archbishop of San Juan, it wasn’t enough.
“I enjoy a good joke. However, humor has it’s limits,” Nieves wrote, adding he had consulted with other bishops of Puerto Rico after the rally. “It should not insult or denigrate the dignity and sacredness of people. Hinchcliffe’s remarks do not only provoke sinister laughter but hatred. These kinds of remarks do not have a place in society founded upon ”liberty and justice for all.”

Whoever threw a turd in the punchbowl of Trumps glorious rally by hiring an obscene insult comedian as a stage act….should be off the campaign and out of the Trump circle forever.
Enough with the hiring of stupid.
Same thought.
WHO planned this?
WHY?
And Kamala just by coincidence visits PR restaurant same day?
A set up?
Maybe the archbishop should get out there with gloves and a rake and cleanup some dumps….
Bishops are employed by a foreign government
I’m sorry Ron DeSantis lost... but he lost. Bigly.
Archbishop, tell your priests to stop diddling kids, then we’ll talk.
“Why does Trump always have a group of idiots in his inner circle?”
Trump is a people person and is far too trusting.
I think ‘juries’ for possible Trump nominations are indicated.
I’m watching “The Crown”. The amount and vigor of preparation for staged events was enormous.
Send him pictures of the mess
All the while Whitmore gives Dorito communion to some tik-tok ho, telling Christians they’re at the wrong rally, genital mutilation, etc...... And Trump should apologize for a comedian?
I agree.
A saboteur perhaps?
“In 2021, Hinchcliffe was dropped by his agency and lost multiple endorsements after using an anti-Asian racial slur against an opening comedian during his set.”

Not only should the person who hired him be fired, but he also needs a swift kick in the nuts.
The PR joke really wasn’t that offensive because it was in the news last week that PR has tons of garbage piling up and, IIRC, the news article I saw called it a floating garbage island or something to that effect. So, as comedians do, they take topical issues and give them a humorous spin. I didn’t see the comedian or hear the joke, but he didn’t make up the PR garbage concept.
This is much ado about nothing.
“Hinchcliffe became known at The Comedy Store for insulting other comics and audience members during shows.”

The guy is closely associated with Joe Rogan, I'd start there.
Now we know what the October Surprise is: They planted this alleged comedian at the Trump rally, while Kamala Harris was speaking to - surprise, surprise - a Puerto Rican group in Philadelphia earlier in the day.
No, the arch bishop wants groveling to humiliate a man of someone else’s remarks for political purposes. It makes him and a$$hole not a proper priest. It’s an intentional political act.
What was the upside of having this guy there? I sure don’t see any?
The big issue is it points back to what many consider to be Trump’s achilles heel, hiring bad people.
