ANKARA, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Here are some of the issues underpinning ties between Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin, who met on Wednesday in Russia on the sidelines of the summit of the BRICS grouping which NATO-member Turkey has voiced interest in joining:...

In recent months, Turkey has also voiced a desire to join the BRICS group, which originally consisted of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and has expanded to include Ethiopia, Iran, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.

Ankara sees BRICS as an opportunity for more economic cooperation with member states, rather than an alternative to its Western ties and NATO membership. Then U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Jeff Flake told Reuters in June that while he hoped Turkey would not join BRICS, such a move would not change its alignment with the West.

Today, Wednesday, is the middle day of BRICS+...

I believe the DOW/Gold/Silver/other-markets? are showing some effects of this week's BRICS meeting. AU/AG gyrating, but significantly to the upside, DOW down 415 (1%).

Turkey is simultaneously the country that first gave Ukraine game changing weapons to use directly against Russian troops (Bayraktar), the one NATO country Putin’s lickspittles refuse to criticise or threat, and the country alongside Ukraine in Belt & Road.

Russia has bulldozed one of its neighboring countries that was destined to take its spot as gateway country, while it schmoozes the other. What’s the difference?

Strong man leaders.

Russia bottled out of attacking Ukraine while Trump and the massively pro Azov Poroshenko were likely to get medieval with the vatniks. As soon as Sleepy and Zelenskyyi (non belligerent moderates) took over and Azov was getting broken up, Russia’s chickenhawks decided it would make more sense to invade.
