Exclusive: Russia's Lavrov Warns of 'Dangerous Consequences' for US in Ukraine
NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE ^ | Tom O'Connor

Posted on 10/12/2024 6:49:33 AM PDT by FlyingEagle

The United States will face "dangerous consequences" if it presses on with growing military aid to Ukraine rather than backing a proposed Russian settlement that would see Moscow take over swathes of territory, the man serving as Russian President Vladimir Putin's top diplomat for 20 years said in exclusive responses to Newsweek questions.

Well over two and a half years after Putin ordered a "special military operation" against Ukraine, invading the country in what has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the Kremlin offers a viable blueprint to end the bloodshed and revamp the security architecture of the continent. He accused the U.S.-led NATO military alliance of first sowing the seeds of war a decade ago and continuing to fan the flames. They accuse Russia of unprovoked agression and expansionism.

"Russia is open to a politico-diplomatic settlement that should remove the root causes of the crisis," he said. "It should aim to end the conflict rather than achieve a ceasefire."

Russia's plan would mean Ukraine ceding the substantially Russian held provinces of Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia, which were formally annexed by Moscow following an internationally disputed referendum in September 2022, as well as Crimea, seized by Russia and annexed through a similar vote in 2014. Kyiv must also agree to abandon its quest to become a NATO member, and take other steps rejected by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his international supporters, including the U.S.

Kyiv and its foreign backers instead demand an unconditional Russian withdrawal, while Moscow has said an escalating conflict brings NATO closer to a direct clash with Russia, which possesses the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons. ///cont.

From another thread:

According to the ministry’s twitter, Bagheri emphasized “that the Zionist regime has crossed the red line” and said that the “Islamic Republic of Iran has a legitimate right to defend itself” in a phone call with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.

Bagheri also thanked Russia for its support, and asked for continued cooperation between the two in stopping “the aggressive actions of the Zionist regime.”

Snake boy! There you are. Have not seen you slithering around here for a while.

Just takes a bit of unfiltered Russian position truth to bring Zeepers out of treacherous little holes.

Langely Troll Farmers are all the same.

Truth for Langely Troll Farmers:
Once the US declares a country as its adversary, it’s deemed as unpatriotic to listen to their side of the story; this is a large part of why the country is bankrupt of critical thinking.

I am sure you did not bother to read the insightful Substack link - so will copy a salient item for you here:

“There’s nothing novel in what he said and those who’ve been following this conflict closely won’t learn anything by reading his interview, but the importance rests in the fact that average Americans might hear more about Russia’s actual policies towards these subjects for the first time. They’ve mostly been insulated from this since it hasn’t been accurately reported by their media until now. To Newsweek’s credit, they shared Lavrov’s responses without any editorializing too, thus removing the usual filter.”

But that will not matter to Zeepers or Langley Troll Farmers, as agents provocateur with jingoistic propaganda to support the Brandon Harris corruption in Ukraine.

Ukraine is a black hole for America and the West to dump all of their most valuable weaponry into,

This is all deceit and lies by the Father of lies to disarm Western free Christian nations and pull them up by the roots.

We don’t fight our wars in foreign countries anymore. We fight them in our own streets and Walmarts.

Ah, even Speedo weighs in, Lavrov must have hit a nerve with true position, for even the owner of longest Zeeper thread in FR history, locus of epic Langley trolling too.

Positively dwarfs a few others, such as AdmSmith

But then again many play on both threads, as well as elsewhere.

We always love seeing you Putin Groupies angry & upset

Guess the Kremlin war-criminal’s “simple 1-month invasion” isn’t working out so well for Russia, huh?

Ah, hi Canuck. Sad you.

I simply posted Speedy's actual FR comments, and this brought out in you some kind of Canadian growl, i.e. a non-voter in the US.

Things I have never asserted: 1) “simple 1-month invasion” and 2) "angry and upset." That's for you children to do / feel / wet your panties.

Things you just asserted: 1) you speak for more than yourself with the plural pronoun "we," unless you mean the royal we as a Commonwealth Charles loyalist, and 2) you know how to "love."

Things about which you lie: 1) I am not a "Putin Groupie" in any way, and 2) I have no dog in the non-NATO war between two non-NATO nations.

Heard what your Commonwealth Boris said recently? If Trump had been president, there would have been no war. Oops.

Vote Trump in 2024, at the minimum to dethrone the corrupt Democrats and have a chance to shrink the bloated administrative state.
