A Russian national has been charged with manufacturing weapons of mass destruction after explosives that could have “leveled a whole block” were discovered in his Philadelphia rowhome, according to officials.
Philadelphia police discovered a bomb-making lab with more than 50 pounds of homemade explosive devices at the home of 27-year-old Evgenii Sadrislamov ---SNIP--- Sadrislamov — who will turn 28 behind bars Saturday — was already on probation for a similar incident in 2020 after commercial-grade fireworks were found inside the home.

Weird, some people hurt? :
Nearby residents were evacuated as a man and a woman were rescued from the Montague Street home and treated by first responders at the scene, police said, without identifying them...
Not an ethnic Russian name, even if he is a Russian national - Sadr-Islam-ovich.
Sorry - no “ich.” Just russifying a non-Russian name.

In Philly the government blows up blocks on their own. They don’t want the competition.
Depending on WHERE in Philly, getting rid of an entire block with explosives could be considered gentrification...
Charged with arson... Even though there was no mention of any actual damage this kid caused. Even “attempted arson” requires having something you tried to at least burn...
I have around 20 pounds of various “explosives” in my reloading bench. My Son’s Scout troop made sugar rockets at one point.
Right way and a wrong way to experiment... but something doesn’t “sniff” right about what the ATF puts out these days.

Sounds like he was making bootleg fireworks.
“Weapons of mass destruction” is a word that was born ... no pun intended ... weaponized. Literally. It’s a propaganda term that first came to use in the USSR in (IIRC) 1937.
Like “assault weapons” and “weapons of war,” it serves no purpose other than to elicit an irrational, emotional response.
It’s a template with the BATFE... Must be “justify your budget” season...
First thing that came to mind.
Homemade explosives are now WMDs? Well, at least these ones were real.
Homemade fireworks
My reloading bench is on the opposite side of my garage from my plumbing and wood working supplies. Hopefully, that is enough distance to keep the Feebies from thinking it’s a “bomb factory”...
“Homemade explosives are now WMDs? Well, at least these ones were real.”
It’s a Ruzzian, they have to made it look as bad as possible.
Wait. Weapons of mass destruction? So they are broadening a definition again. Unless he was making nerve gas they aren’t weapons of mass destruction.
