I mentioned on another thread yesterday - given the mix of officer to enlisted 6-7 vs 4-3 and that this attack was behind the front lines it is most likely that these soldiers were there to turn over and train the Russians on equipment that the NK were providing to the Russians.

There is nothing to indicate that the NK troops are actively participating in combat operations yet.
