The roots of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) stretch deep into Marxist ideology. Born from the notion of class struggle, Marxism’s obsession with dividing society into oppressors and oppressed has evolved—now it’s all about identity, diversity boxes, and quotas.
DEI slithered into every corner of society like a stealthy virus: from corporations to schools, government agencies, and even churches. What was once a cry for fairness has become an unrelenting dogma, demanding allegiance to its self-contradictory principles.
Enter the HMNZS Manawanui incident—a vivid, chilling example of where these DEI policies lead. The New Zealand Navy appointed Yvonne Gray, a former teacher from Yorkshire, as captain of this vessel. Notably, Gray is a “diversity hire,” celebrated not for her naval expertise but for ticking the right identity boxes—openly lesbian and a champion of diversity.
Sound familiar? Yeah, because we’ve had similar incidents in America involving commercial airlines, right?
But this was her moment, but not in the way DEI fanatics hoped. Under her command, the Manawanui struck a reef, caught fire, and sank off the coast of Samoa. A ship worth over $100 million—gone—and for what? Some may argue it was a tragic accident, but is that the whole story?
This catastrophe reveals the true nature of DEI, an evil Trojan horse that destroys institutions from within. In their hunger to virtue signal their “inclusivity,” the New Zealand Navy placed dozens of lives in the hands of a captain whose qualifications for leadership were, at best, questionable.
Of course, it wasn’t her personal sex life that caused the ship to sink, per se—it was her competence. The problem, though, is that under DEI’s rule, competence is secondary to quotas, and now 75 lives were at risk because of it. Overstatement? Hardly. One can only shudder to think of the consequences if the situation had escalated into an even deadlier disaster.
The hypocrisy of DEI is staggering. We’re told it’s about creating better environments, yet the wreck of the Manawanui puts on display the mindblowing incompetence it engenders. The movement to prioritize diversity over operational skill echoes across every institution embracing this ideology.
Was this disaster a wake-up call? Or will more excuses be trotted out, burying the obvious flaws in the system under layers of evasive language?
Who’s next in line for the diversity spotlight? If the goal is to hand out leadership roles based on identity, how far will this madness go? When a nation’s leaders prioritize representation over responsibility, they trade competence for virtue signaling, risking lives and resources alike.
A $100 million ship, now lying at the ocean’s bottom is just the beginning. This may have happened to a small, insignificant island nation in the South Pacific trying to make a name for itself by being as woke and tyrannical as it can be. But let this be a lesson for what happens when nations make DEI a priority—they sink.
So unless America gets its military under control, we will likely be next.
Sail on, good ship ‘Noneedamandingi’, sail on!
This answers the question - thanks for posting
Today, a $100 million ship. Tomorrow, the world. Cf. Gen 19.

DEI is part of Cloward-Piven. Overload the system so that the authoritarians can take over without firing a shot.
BINGO!! It’s ALL CLOWARD PIVEN!!!
Well, look at the U.S., with one of the most incompetent human beings on the planet running for the presidency and the only qualification being mentioned is the fact that she’s a woman. Given our sordid media, if she’d only have claimed to be a lesbian, she’d have been a shoe-in. Nope, this is no insult to women, I know plenty and all of them are far, FAR more capable than that igorant ****.
What’s with the headline? I read “Nazi”...huh? Shouldn’t it read “Navy”?
It won’t be fired they wouldn’t dare ….
Let’s back away from the politics of putting someone in a position of authority because they are “diverse.*” I worked for over thirty years in large companies. Large organizations, be they governmental, military or commercial enterprises, are composed of people who are working in a hierarchy. Each person in the hierarchy is likely working hard to achieve the next level for its pay, statis or whatever they perceive that level to be compared to where they are now. In many cases the organization brings in someone from outside to fill a higher position, or, much worse, they put someone in a higher position because that person is the son of someone more important further up. What effect does that move on the part of the higherups have on the entire structure below the new hire? There’s a huge drop in morale as people in the organization see that their contributions are not valued. They start looking outside the organization for a way to move up, onward and “out.” Diversity hires and nepotism have the same effect. They damage the overall organization. Of course, the people making those decisions don’t give a damn.
* Diverse means, not white heterosexual male, or white heterosexual female.
There's no "of course" here at all. Someone looking at the world through a distorted lens is at risk to see and judge everything with bias.
So unless America gets its military under control, we will likely be next.

Well, LOL!, haven’t we already! Let’s see..........USS McCain, USS Fitzgerald, USS Bon Homme Richard, USS Cole, USS Abraham Lincoln (Kara Hultgreen flies 100 million dollar plane into the ocean and dies).
“unless America gets its military under control, we will likely be next.”
Undoubtedly.
Stating the obvious:
Normal people never went there. Corporations initially embraced the suck to gain 'score' with the private orgs set upon them by the government, and they naturally backed away after seeing the damage up close.
The government will respond to leadership, though the damage will take far longer to correct than poisoning it from top to bottom, including the military. And therein lies the problem:
If we don't see true leadership succeed in a few weeks - the left obviously does not represent it - then rather than private orgs the now emboldened bureaucratic state will use the IRS to coerce corporations back into DIE, and the combination of all their efforts will push us farther into the chasm they designed.
I have proffered previously that if we don't immediately severely modify our thinking and start putting direct pressure upon the left - e.g., if they riot, we take it to our leaders' homes which support them x10 - then they will NEVER be dissuaded, because the elites have gotten a taste of unlimited free [printed] money and the power they initially experienced under zero is now becoming literally cliche' ("absolute power corrupts absolutely").
If she didn't have the Conn (the ordering of course and speed, etc.) then the OOD (Officer Of the Deck), who does have the Conn, is the one who was directly responsible for the grounding. That person is directly responsible for the ship's navigation.
Was the Quartermaster on watch not giving updates and warnings to the OOD? You don't just turn the helm and ground a vessel. A review of the navigation charts and ship's logs is in order.
I'm not saying to let her off the hook as she is responsible for the crew and its functioning, but the blame should be placed equally.
A woman in living color.
When you look at the damage and conditions with which and in which crews saved their ships in wwII and Viet Nam ya gotta wonder what got so out of hand here.
And, horrifically, the ship is leaking oil!!!
All those Samoan seals will die!
Ain’t Affirmative Action wonderful.
