Iran's oil minister visits oil export terminal as Israeli strike feared

DUBAI, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Iran's oil minister landed on Kharg Island, home to the country's main export terminal, and held talks with a naval commander on Sunday, the oil ministry's news website Shana reported, amid concern Israel could attack energy facilities. An Israeli military spokesman said on Saturday that Israel would retaliate in response to last week's missile attack by Tehran "when the time is right". U.S. news website Axios cited Israeli officials as saying Iran's oil facilities could be hit, while U.S. President Joe Biden said on Friday that he did not think Israel had yet concluded how to respond. Iran is a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) with production of around 3.2 million barrels per day (bpd), or 3% of global output. Iranian oil exports have climbed this year to near multi-year highs of 1.7 million bpd despite U.S. sanctions. Most of its oil and gas wealth is located in the south of the country, where the Kharg Island terminal is situated and from which around 90% of Iranian oil exports are shipped.

Let’s be real. The U.S. can destroy that island any day they care to. Not even a S400 air defense can protect it from a determined U.S. attack.

Russia, Iran’s closest ally and a member of the Coalition of the Sanctioned, produces 12 million barrels a day. When Iran closes the Straight of Hormuz, Russia’s profit per barrel will double or triple. The Russians would make out like bandits under this circumstance even if they gave Iran the profits they had been earning on oil as a subsidy to keep the Straight closed.

This is the strangest war. Each said makes a strike, if to prove a point. The other side then expresses outrage, but then goes silent for days or even weeks. In this period, its allies then come out commenting on what they believe retaliation should look like. Then, after a lengthy period, a calculated strike is made. The theater is then repeated.

The bizarre dance of proxy war in the 21st century.

It is how weapons of war are sold. Regardless, I believe Israel must remove the Kharg Island oil terminal and Iranian nuke proliferation sites 72 hours before Khamenei and his lineage are obliterated.

It gives Khamenei a few days to reflect on what his policy has caused. It is the least Israel can do.

Peanuts. The Israelis are not going for a symbolic strike. The Israelis are going to end the Mullah regime.

They take their time, verify intel and strike like lightening.

Be patient.

“ When Iran closes the Straight of Hormuz..”

Their military will cease to exist in less than 12 hours.

The entire time we were all awaiting this Iranian retaliation, a massive Russian air train was shuttling weapons systems such as S300s and S400s, all varied forms of other electronic warfare and other air defense into Iran. I’m sure Iran has been dispersing and better defending all likely targets.

Also the Russians and Iranians negotiated a deal for a large number of Su-35s last year. Those jets began arriving in Iran this April. Fortunately for the Iranians, using the NATO/Uke model, there are thousands of Russian “volunteers” manning, maintaining, aiming and piloting all of that advanced technology.

What if during the Israeli attack, the Iranians send 100 ballistic missiles to each of Israel’s air bases? Most would get through. Double the confirmed missiles employed and hits taken at Navatim during last week’s massively successful Iranian attack and ask yourself, where would those returning Israeli jets land?

What fear? How much of that package deal we offered Israel was to save him and that facility so he’s flaunting what he can get by with?

How much of that deal was over and above helping the hurricane victims? You know, Americans.

Right - and given how they have been selecting targets, the Iranian package will include ALL of them: C&C, political, weapons production, oil, & nuclear. Which ones? All of them. It will take time to put all the pieces together in the package.

Amir Tsarfati:

...One of my favorite things to watch is how pro-Iranian and pro-Palestinian accounts spread fake news. Why? Because the truth is too harsh for them to accept.

Last night, two Houthi drones caused no damage or injuries. Desperate to show results, they shared videos of burning Israeli buses from a criminal incident in northern Israel years ago, or a large explosion that actually took place in Syria.

This false narrative, suggesting they are always winning, reveals their desperate need to see damage and suffering inflicted on Jews to satisfy their bloodthirsty minds and hearts. These are the people about whom our late prime minister, Golda Meir, said they hate Jews more than they love their children...

And why hit their oil terminals? If you want the Iranian people furious at the mullahs you hit their very limited number of refineries, that hurts their entire country.

Also direct hit on storage bunkers. The Israelis also had a two hour notification. I’m not debating that those missiles, if targeted dead center, have an accuracy rate of plus or minus 2 km.

Make that 64 strikes or 128 rather than 32 during the launching or return of the planes based there and image the carnage. You do know there are better, more accurate weapons in the Iranian/Russian arsenal as well.

Imagine if the Iranians adopt the Israeli method of regime decapitation. That would only take a 4 km wide saturation of these missiles over the Knesset.

Israel should thank God that Iran is not ruled by a genocidal maniac like Israel is.

Peanuts. The Israelis are not going for a symbolic strike. The Israelis are going to end the Mullah regime.

The "kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out" point of view is often seen among partisans. Its not reality, its PR posturing.

The REALITY is that both sides are backed by powerful allies, both have advantages in particular aspects of high-tech weaponry, and that neither has a clear strategic advantage over the other

Its why we have seen this strange dance and chess game of message-sending strike, long periods of consideration and public comment from all sides, and then message-sending retaliatory counter-strike.

Everyone involved, including the USA, Russia, China, Saudi Arabia - know the incalculable cost of total war - so they are making escalation very slowly and carefully.

I disagree. This war is being waged by Bibi Nethayahu as if it was biblical.

The view you promote is lte view of the pols who are basically socialist heathens, scrofulous socialists who want a Utopia without any help at all from the Divine principle involved.History will award them Darwin.

The real possibility is that Israel will terminate the Mullah regime of Iran. So far they have decapitated Iran’s proxies and the momentum is simply to work their way right up the ladder, so there will be more brilliant execution of a plan on the order that has destroyed the Hezbollah command.

Israel will go it alone. It has the weapons, thanks to India. USA under Biden has been a fickle ally for years under the fools who now run the White Hut, and Israel has diversified its sources for ‘material de guerre.’

After Israel is vict9rious, there will be an opportunity to reinstate and expand the Abraham Accords.
