Melania Trump has addressed claims that her son Barron has autism for the first time in her new book.
The former First Lady quashed the rumors, which began in the wake of her husband Donald Trump's election in 2016.
Barron was just ten-years-old when one of the former president's biggest critics, comedian Rosie O'Donnell, sparked speculation Barron may have the condition.
Melania said that the 'bullying' he was subjected to afterwards made it impossible to accept O'Donnell's eventual apology and accused the her of acting in 'sheer malice'.
But she also revealed how it inspired her to focus her child-centric Be Best initiative on childhood welfare and online bullying.
'Barron's experience of being bullied both online and in real life following the incident is a clear indication of the irreparable damage caused,' the New York Times reports that she wrote in her memoir. 'No apology can undo the harm inflicted upon him.'
Melania took aim at O'Donnell, who has an autistic daughter and claimed she had recirculated the rumors in an attempt to bring awareness to the condition.
'There is nothing shameful about autism (though O'Donnell's tweet implied that there was), but Barron is not autistic,' she writes, according to an extract on the Daily Beast.

Looking at her family and all they have gone through, Rosie needs to stay in her lane and not badmouth other people’s family members.

I’ve defended her, praised her, had a crush on her. And then weeks before the election she comes out as apparently pro-abortion as any liberal. Very, very disappointing.

I was listening to some podcasters - 40-something guys (sports maybe?). Anyway - they had dinner with Barron at his home in NYC. They all said he was really engaging, smart, funny - etc.
He had just turned 18, and one of the older guys said that he was now old enough to be picked on by the media. Barron replied something like “That’s okay - I can handle it. I’m a Trump.”
I realize Melania has too much class, but just once, it would be wonderful if she would look a creep in the eye and just say F Off.
If not, how about “I do not respond to pond scum”
She’s not running for anything, so it’s not your problem.
(And she stated today that the book was written and printed months ago - that’s how publishing works. She didn’t ‘come out’ as pro abortion just weeks before the election - or pro-abortion at all. She just came out in favor of individual choice. Her husband also believes in certain situations that should allow for abortion.)
