Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency arrived in Transylvania County Saturday and are coordinating to asses the overall damage throughout the area with the first official estimates expected to be released next week . . .
County staff continues to reach out to neighborhoods severely damaged by the natural disaster to remove debris and supply food, water and other needs throughout area . . .
The Transylvania County Health Department has an abundance of resources online regarding free food and water distributions and well as detailed directions regarding well contamination due to floods and other public safety issues.
Anchor Baptist Church in Penrose continues to coordinate volunteer efforts at its location on Old Hendersonville Highway.
“We want to thank all of the partners who have come to the table to help with this effort, both in the emergency response to the immediate needs and also in the long term that we are starting to move into,” [Transylvania County Manager Jaime] Laughter said.

Emergency prep for families and communities used to be that you needed to be set up for 7 days without outside help.
Pepper communities take that further, 30 days to 6 months.
Total self sufficiency is more and more rare.

A mule packer ranch in North Carolina is lending some helping “hooves” and delivering much-needed supplies and first aide to communities in the mountains who have been impacted by the damage from Hurricane Helene.
“Busy morning as we loaded lots of equipment, supplies, and MULES, to leave for WNC! Please know that we appreciate EVERY kind word, gesture of support, and all that are partnering with us to HELP all that we can!” the Mountain Mule Packer Ranch wrote in a post on Facebook.

I’ve known people working at the highest level of the Red Cross. The assessment in your post is accurate. Donation money is used to pay senior level management very well and to pay for them to travel around the world living and working in luxury. Don’t give them a dime.

Years ago, we discovered they would be allowed to have blood drives in military facilities, then they would charge the military a premium price for any blood it needed.
