FEMA turns way random help as they are inconsistent and usually not were they really are not needed. FEMA wants public help but they coordinate with organizations and coordinate support through them. 200 people showing up out of the blue as one site with a shovel and supplies does not help them as they don’t have the coordination power for that.
It’s great that folks want to help but they get in the way of sending help to were they think that are needed not were volunteers show up.
If folks want to help then go join Samaritan’s purse or the Red Cross or your local government and then help. Be prepared you’re likely going to paying your own way and personal time there if you just show up. The Cajun navy is another group that takes volunteers organizes them to support the relief effort. That started as ragtag collection of support and now are part of the bigger relief effort. Goto thier website to see what they do now.
SWAG: As to the collection of goods for support. I assume in the same vein they take random collections of food and aid and then figure out where to distribute the goods to the most needy. It does not always get to where you think. The incident with the mayor of San Juan PR hoarding fed support was a great example of corruption. I assume a FEMA contractor does the collection as FEMA only has about 2,500 full time employees so they contract manpower and equipment. Bringing random stuff out of the closet and pantry does not help much. Feed good but tons of supplies are needed.
This is based the 900 Series ( or used to be numbered)emergency training course FEMA offers that I took in the 2000s and my time spent working months on and boots on the ground for Katrina and working fed exercises.
I feel bad that good people want to help but without coordination it becomes more of a mess that it helps and red meat topics for radio.
Had enough yet? Nope. Sheeple still too comfortable, too many dependent on the federal tit for their paltry lives. They are willing to give up freedom for a handout. The Revolution took place for less than we have already endured and those people had even less taken away from them and less interference by King George than we have suffered at the hands of the feds.
Where is the NC State Government in this? FEMA doesn’t have ultimate authority in this situation. They provide assistance and funding to the states. FEMA may suck, but I’m not hearing about NC exceeding any expectations either.

WNC is filled with people from NY, MA, and every other bastion of liberalism. They hate God, guns, freedom. They will take, take take. They love big government. There are a minority of regular folks. Lots of liberal virtue signaling. We are in Hendersonville l, one county over. The 15 foot hole in our roof is already fixed. There is a reason I rarely go into Asheville. Sometimes it’s required. Swannanoa got hit hard, it’s just outside Asheville.
Its almost 6am and my husband is headed this the cove to assist Samaritans purse. I will be making them a couple of cakes today. Power is still minimal so they are eating sandwiches.
Asheville area gets a hurricane about every ten years. NC knows this and does not prepare the state. They have no desire to save lives. There just here for some other thing.
Edneyville had landslides and is a catastrophe, but folks were out on day two chainsaws and determination.
And the California-New York ALL-ELECTRIC vehicle, ban fossil fuels solution, would have the Department of Global Temperature Security threatening the population for using fossil fuels to clear paths and roads and generate electricity.
So the “recovery” would take much longer.
Government institutions by design are incompetent and corrupt. When your officials don’t have a clue how to run anything and are then given tons of money the outcome is always predictable.
Expecting government help should the last thing you’d expect.
Shouldn't that be the role of Housing and Urban Development or Health and Human Services?
I guess FEMA had the larger budget to raid or Mayorkas was more willing to go along with the plan.

With Trump’s possible win looming the democrats will siphon off any penny they can at this point. They should be in jail.
FEMA’s mission is continuity of government. They are supposed to be the agency that oversees and coordinates relief efforts. They generally are not in the business of rescuing people or handing out food, water, generators etc. Now they might assist in procuring and basic distribution of those commodities but it is rare that they are the ones actually going door to door. FEMA plays a bigger role in later recovery efforts where they directly provide financial aid to municipalities and individuals and they also directly manage the emergency housing fleet.
Remember that FEMA is a relatively small organization (for the government) and most of their members are specialists in recovery and logistics NOT search and rescue.
Why isn’t North Carolina Democrat Governor Roy Cooper not being held accountable for not getting off his fat a$$ and doing something?
