Understanding just how skillfully JD Vance handled the abortion question
American Thinker ^ | 10/04/2024 | Andrea Widburg

Posted on 10/04/2024 8:14:48 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

I am a very big fan of the podcasters at the Daily Wire: Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Michael Knowles, and Andrew Klavan. I don’t agree with them on everything, but I enjoy their intelligent takes and humor. They and I agree that JD Vance did a wonderful job during the vice-presidential debate, but they all missed how well he did on the abortion issue.

When Walz was asked about abortion, he launched easily into the shtick that it’s all about women’s healthcare while boasting about what a wonderful state Minnesota is for abortion. He had to lie, of course, about the law he signed, which does allow abortion up to and including birth. Nor would he admit that the law removed the obligation to save infants born alive after botched abortions. To date, at least eight infants have been left to die.

What pro-life conservatives expected to hear from JD Vance, who is himself a pro-life conservative, was a full-throated defense of life and a legalistic analysis of how the Dobbs decision works. They didn’t get it. Ben Shapiro sums up the resulting disappointment:

Ben is right that JD did none of that. Instead, JD focused on supporting women. This was an incredibly smart move on his part (as is Melania coming out in favor of abortion).

CBS framed this debate for women...specifically, for suburban women who know (as do all Americans) that things are awful and who also know that, on the pivotal, day-to-day matters (the economy, the border, national security, etc.), Trump is the better candidate. The only way to grab these women is through abortion, which most see as the ultimate women’s issue. It’s been a sure winner for the Democrats for decades now.

There was no way in a two-minute debate response that Vance could convince suburban women that they’re wrong on abortion. Touching it would have been deadly.

He rightly recognized that the reason that abortion matters so much to these women is that, whether they’ve had a baby or been around babies, they viscerally understand the most pivotal thing about pregnancy and motherhood: Your body and life are no longer your own. Unless you’re a psychopath or someone destroyed by substance abuse, from the moment you become pregnant, your body belongs to the baby and from the moment the baby is born, your life belongs to that child.

It’s always been this way, of course, since time immemorial. However, before modern times, women couldn’t stop the process. They had to yield to it, with good grace or ill. Nowadays, though, they can stop the process. Therefore, they must be persuaded that motherhood isn’t just a choice, it’s a good choice and one, moreover, that won’t destroy their lives but will enhance them.

Trump, Vance, whomever are trying to impress everyone will never speak bluntly. Calling it baby-killing is not how you win elections. Good Politians have to be everything to everyone and especially have to contend with being portrayed meanies.
Same with us good folks as we are trying to win over folks to our good side. We can influence the perspective such as never, never referring to a pregnant woman as a “Mother-to-be.” What is she pregnant with but a baby? Thusly she IS a Mother. Try that sometime and you will see the brightest light bulbs going off.
For those who are either ignorant, stupid, or just evil, I’ll correct the term “Abortion” to “Baby-killing” immediately and forcefully. Blunt truth!!!

Abortion = women’s healthcare. What about the baby’s healthcare?

Not so.

The problem is raising babies and children.

Seven days a week jobs and childcare can be shared.

Week 1

Mom 1
4 days job
3 days childcare
Mom 2
4 days child care
3 days job

Week 2

Mom 2
4 days job
3 days childcare
Mom 1
4 days child care
3 days job

If the workday is 10 hours long, each mom will average 35 hours a week working on average.

NOTE: It would be an entirely a private initiative, so it does not appear on my profile page as a campaign platform issue.

In 2024, unlike 1924, many companies like grocery stores, Walmart and Amazon operate seven days a week.

Is this why Kamala is not holding pro-abortion presidential rallies?

Biden’s July Reproductive Freedom Rally at PA State Capitol; Three People Show Up

By Cristina Laila, July 11, 2024, gatewaypundit.com

A whopping three people showed up at a Biden for President at the Pennsylvania State Capitol with legislators on Thursday.“Biden for President–Reproductive Freedom: Members of the PA State Legislature will join Amanda Zurawski and Kaitlyn Joshua — two women denied life-saving abortions due Donald Trump’s abortion ban–for a reproductive freedom rally,” the announcement said.

Three people showed up. There were more news reporters than attendees at the Biden rally at Soldier’s Grove. Four reporters showed up to the Biden for President rally.----snip

To be clear, crude abortions were performed a long time ago. Especially ancient Romans had this culture of death. Abortion, baby killings, wars, slavery, mass executions, all were common then.
It was the Judeo-Christian teaching, which put stop to baby killing and abortions.

Combined oral contraceptives—Also called “the pill,” combined oral contraceptives contain the hormones estrogen and progestin. It is prescribed by a doctor. A pill is taken at the same time each day. If you are older than 35 years and smoke, have a history of blood clots or breast cancer, your doctor may advise you not to take the pill. Typical use failure rate: 7%.

Progestin only pill—Unlike the combined pill, the progestin-only pill (sometimes called the mini-pill) only has one hormone, progestin, instead of both estrogen and progestin. It is prescribed by a doctor. It is taken at the same time each day. It may be a good option for women who can’t take estrogen. Typical use failure rate: 7%.

Implant—The implant is a single, thin rod that is inserted under the skin of a women’s upper arm. The rod contains a progestin that is released into the body over 3 years. Typical use failure rate: 0.1%.

Levonorgestrel intrauterine system (LNG IUD)—The LNG IUD is a small T-shaped device like the Copper T IUD. It is placed inside the uterus by a doctor. It releases a small amount of progestin each day to keep you from getting pregnant. The LNG IUD stays in your uterus for up to 3 to 8 years, depending on the device. Typical use failure rate: 0.1-0.4%.

I suspect most abortions are the end result of not taking birth control pills on time.

Perhaps daily reminder pill boxes are needed that work in conjunction with cell phones.

Some PPACA bonus program might be offered up for using daily reminder pills boxes correctly - say $1 off each month’s premium for as many months as you have a perfect trailing consumption record, up to say $60/month ($720/year).

People never raise the obvious question: Why does it take two FTEs to support a family when it used to take just one?

RE: The problem is raising babies and children.

If the pregnant mother does not want to or cannot afford to raise her baby, a compassionate society should ENCOURAGE ADOPTION.

According to data available as of 2024, there are generally more prospective adoptive parents waiting to adopt newborns in the United States than there are infants available for adoption.

A pregnancy counselor can encourage the pregnant woman to give the baby up for adoption rather than having her killed.

And we ought to develop a system that will allow adoptive parents to meet pregnant mothers for this purpose.

The point is — YOU DON’T HAVE TO KILL THE BABY!

When many of us were much younger-—Birth control pills were about $20 a month & DOCTOR’s prescription was required-—MORE cost. We made $5 an hour if we had REALLY GOOD JOBS.

Today, women do not need a prescription.

Birth control pills are OTC.

The cost remains about the same===$20 a month.

But today’s women are making ALOT more money than WE ever made.

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR THEIR “UNPLANNED” PREGNANCIES & BEHAVIOR.

How many of today’s females eager to get an abortion would not even be here to make that statement -— IF abortion was widespread when their mothers were young???

Big sellout on abortion from him and Melania.

That’s correct, adoption is a far better and more ethical option than killing the baby!

“People never raise the obvious question: Why does it take two FTEs to support a family when it used to take just one?”

1. Deindustrialization
2. Forcing mortgage lenders to consider two incomes when deciding on the maximum amount of a mortgage
3. Ignorance of construction costs on the part of homebuyers and real estate agents
4. Failure to realize that a house twice as big should not cost twice as much (build cost ~=square root of size + fixed pre-build costs such as lot clearing & prep, sewers, roads, service mains)
5. chain immigration - extended families can pay more for housing
6. building codes
7. licensing of contractors
8. growth of medical technology & hospital systems
9. hidden cross-subsidization (housing, medical, higher education)
10. impact fees
11. Growth of cities

By the late 1960s, NYC was built out.

By the late 1970s, metropolitan LA was built out.
