WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Wednesday that the federal government will provide a $750 payment to hurricane victims affected by recent flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. The announcement comes amid reports that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has nearly exhausted its disaster relief funds.

The $750 payment is intended to help individuals and families who have lost homes and personal belongings in the aftermath of the storm. However, concerns have been raised about the adequacy of the assistance, with critics arguing that the sum is insufficient to meet basic needs like food, water, clothing, and temporary shelter.

Wait-—$750? As in, $750?

Come on, man. That's more than the residents of Lahaina got. They got $700 per household.

(Do I need a /sarc tag?)

I saw a video where a victim was standing in front of one of these fine centers and he said no one has shown up since they located it in a parking space. That was 3 days...not there yet.

Blacks don’t realize they’ve been thrown under the bus by the RAT Party. The RATs have some new friends in the illegals they’ve let across the southern border. As soon as the RATs let their new friends vote, it’s over for the Blacks.

Americans get the middle finger. Border crashers get a $4,000 prepaid card.

I respect the fact that some here are philosophically opposed to governmental aids like this, and even more perhaps are opposed to the Federal government doing it when it is NOT a federal constitutional function or power.

Having said all that,
as long as we have a federal disaster bailout program... it should function correctly ... and deliver real, meaningful assistance to hurricane, flood victims. Not just pathetic little $750 cheques. That’s basically a slap in the face, an insult to people who had every legitimate right to expect some real, substantive assistance when their entire homes have been destroyed.

If we want to get the Federal govt out of the welfare type business, fine and dandy. Let’s transfer this function to the states (and charities, and communities). All the better. The Feds can’t run any program well and especially any that provides “benefits” for potentially 350,000,000 people.
But announce the change BEFORE a major disaster strikes so that people aren’t misled (effectively lied to) into believing that real help would be forthcoming from Wash DC. imho, a paltry $750 shows utter contempt for Americans who have underwent, suffered major losses.

It was $2,000 for Katrina victims and that was over 12 years ago - before Biden inflation.

Katrina was $2,000 plus transportation and housing in Houston for several years. They also brought in many, many trailers as temporary housing. Also, food and water were almost immediate with shelter in the Astrodome.

Nothing like that at all seems to be coming from Biden/Harris.

Cash is the last thing you want to provide some of these.
Lot of these small communities were devastated by the shut down of coal and other industries.
So, the result is drugs has taken over and run rampant.

Not all the communities, but a lot of them.
Better off a type of line of credit for the purchase of essentials at prescribed places.

But, IMO this is telling us that you worth is 750 bucks to the democrats.
