Melania Trump has done her best to stay out of the spotlight throughout her husband’s presidential tenure and political career. Now, in a memoir titled Melania set to be published a month before election today, she has openly chosen a side in America’s abortion wars. The Guardian obtained a copy of the memoir, and published the former—and possibly future—First Lady’s pro-abortion declaration:
It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government. Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body?
A woman’s fundamental right of individual liberty, to her own life, grants her the authority to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes. Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is the same as denying her control over her own body. I have carried this belief with me throughout my entire adult life.

A lot of Freepers dislike the middle because of the above stance. And if you tell the middle it's either unfettered abortion or no abortions ever, a majority would choose the former.
I think she has a right to come clean about being her own individual person, not some object everyone projects their own ideals (or curses) on. It’s probably very liberating for her, and she shouldn’t feel shackled by expectations should her husband be president again. And her husband shouldn’t feel bound by party or even alliance either! If NATO is being annoying, he doesn’t owe them anything! (For example.)
“Why would she do this at this critical time?”
1). Could be the publisher calling the shots to influence election.
2). Could be Trump Campaign working behind the sceen in an effort to win with suburban housewives who value the right to kill their children.
Fallacy. By extension, the “right to life” in the bill of rights should be struck.
Yeah that’s my question.
I’d say it’s number two.
That’s right.
Will God continue to Bless a nation that has abortion as its highest priority?
No.
Terrific, another one who mocks God. What a disappointment she is.
That’s disturbing. I hope that is wrong! :-(
“The candidate said there must be some form of punishment for women who get abortions”
Historic American jurisprudence didn’t prosecute women who got abortions.
They were regarded by the law as victims of the abortionist. Only the abortion provider was prosecuted.
In all of American history there were exactly two women who were also charged, and neither was convicted as I recall.
Since these two cases were unlike any others there must have been some extenuating circumstance but I didn’t find a detailed explanation what prompted their prosecution.
Right pew , wrong church—Declaration of Independence. He should never have left Ivanka, but he did.
> Melania is not appointing Supreme Court judges. She has a right to her own opinion and journey with God.
We are still allowed to say she is wrong.
I am against capital punishment.
How do you feel about that issue?
How about not getting pregnant in the first place! There are many ways...all better than murdering an innocent being that wouldn’t even exist if not for the those who created him/her.
Behold, this have I found, says the preacher, counting one by one, to find out the account which yet my soul seeks, but I do not find: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.Ecclesiastes 7:27-28.
Apparently Melania isn’t aware of the stats regarding abortion. Most women are forced into one by their boyfriend, husband, father or brother. A woman’s natural inclination is to keep the baby because she knows within her soul that it’s a human life that she’s supposed to protect. If women were allowed to freely decide about this issue, the result would be dramatically fewer abortions.
What a disappointment.
A lot of people are swallowing this hogwash hook, line and sinker.
I don't have a problem with that.
All I care is that Trump is going to uphold the Constitution. He's going to do that.
The point is that abortion is a trivial issue.
Let the states decide the issue.
If all states want to legalize abortion, then that's the way it should be.
