A homeowner whose house is falling into the ocean on Oahu’s North Shore is being sued by the state of Hawaii.
Earlier this week, amid a high ocean swell, the home on Ke Nui Road by Sunset Beach could be seen breaking apart and falling into the waves in a video widely shared on social media. In the footage, a resident can be heard warning others, “Be careful where you’re standing. The whole roof is gonna come down right now.”
Glass, metal and wood can be seen strewn across the sand as the waves pull debris into the sea. “The State of Hawaii officials could’ve prevented this! But they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING,” the resident who shot the video commented.
In a civil lawsuit filed on Tuesday, however, the state of Hawaii is seeking damages against the homeowner. The complaint claims that debris from the collapsing home is now on state land — all beaches in Hawaii are owned by the state, up to the high-tide mark — and it’s on the owner to clean it up.
“On September 24, 2024, large pieces of cement, wood, glass, electrical components, rebar, geotextile fabric, and other unidentified solid materials cover the State land spanning between the property boundary line and the ocean,” the complaint reads. “… An unknown quantity of solid material from the dwelling on Subject Property 2 entered the ocean and were taken away from the location due to the ocean’s natural processes.”

Government bureaucrats are the pits. This is proof number trillion and one.
Out of control government
Sue the building inspector who allowed construction at that location.
Somewhere there is a soils engineer who needs to lose their license.
Globull Warming???
Looks like homeowners in NC are on the hook for cleaning up their mess.
Seems fair to me.
Matthew 7:26.
Does my homeowner insurance policy include beach cleanup?
That stupid Hawaiian mentality on display again. His neighbor’s house collapses and he whines that he daughters play on that piece of sand. Then stars bitching about tourists.
Tell you daughters to play somewhere else.
Liberals will be “happy” when the Congress shall ban rain, relieving all the stress that rain causes, such as erosion and rising seas.
“According to the filing, the homeowner was previously cited for building “unauthorized erosion control measures” on the beach. “
Why is the bureaucratic fault that somebody built too close to the shoreline?
Hawaiians hate mainlanders. Fact. They hate us because the prices of all property and goods in Hawaii are unaffordable to any locals living there. About half of all those with Hawaiian blood now live on the mainland because they could no longer afford to live in Hawaii.
The dems and globalists are doing the same thing to mainlanders unless they are stopped and held accountable which is my fervent wish.
